Pam,

Great review and pictures! I re-lived my trip looking at your pictures! I finally bought Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World today and played it all the way home. You should have seen the grin on my face thinking I was doing a SF sailaway!
Alaska was absolutely stunning. I'm so happy I decided to go; the itinerary was superb. I'm glad I didn't let weather concerns stop me from going and missing a fantastic trip.
Thank you for sharing your pictures! I look forward to seeing you on another cruise.

Patty

I just want to tell you how much I appreciated the detailed review of the voyage and all the photos. My wife and I are going on our first ever cruise and first time to Alaska on 5119 aboard the Harmony in late July/early August. We are getting so pumped and reading your post and viewing those pictures just added to it. We did decide to rent a car in Skagway and drive up the mountain instead of taking the train. I hear that there are some great cinnamon buns to be had along the road.

Pam, thanks for taking the time to put these together and load them up for all to see. The pictures were great. Alaska really is a beautiful state.

Thanks for taking the time to share all of this. The review was great and the pictures were awsome. The best way to see Alaska really does appear to be on a cruise. It has been added to my "must do" list.

On a side note: I just heard back from my table mate whose daughter works for Crystal. Apparently the odd singer from the Avenue Saloon on the last night was the deputy cruise director! She speaks a bit of Japanese, so was onboard for the last few cruises to assist with the Asian passengers. This was her last cruise for the time being. Supposedly she dresses very primly in the office, so no one could explain where her onboard attire came from. Guess she didn't work out too well - there are no plans to bring her back for another engagement, lol.

Pam: I thoroughly enjoyed seeing your pictures and reading your fabulous review. Thank you for all your effort and taking the time to post. I cruised Alaska several years ago "solo" and really loved it. I have been on over 35 cruises, four of which have been on Crystal and plan on many more. When is your next cruise --- do you usually cruise solo ??

As a newbie with my first cruise ever, let alone on crystal, only six weeks away (well six weeks and four days) I found your review really really helpful and so well written and presented. It gave me a real taste for what things to come are going to be like and your photos were really excellent at showing me just how grand everything will be. Thank you and I am really glad that you enjoyed your cruise so much.

One of the great things about Crystal is that even when you're "alone," you're never alone! I like to spend a lot of time by myself, but there were also plenty of familiar, friendly faces around the ship. I was often running into other passengers who stopped to chat - even people whose names I never even learned. STEX was also a great way to have table mates and excursion pals to hang out with. Even eating lunch by yourself, you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery or talk with the great staff. This is one of the reasons why I love cruising so much, especially since it looks like many of my upcoming trips will be solo.

My next trip on Crystal is in December, and at this point, I don't know anyone else except for my STEX friends who will be on that cruise. I'm hoping to convince some friends to go. The more I share my photos and stories, the more convinced they become.

Smile Excellent Report!

Thank you so much for posting your review. I enjoyed it so much. You really ought to post it for the folks on flyertalk. Now I am just counting down until the 23rd for our trip. I promise to post a just back report as well.
Thanks again,
