We are taking a short cruise on the day after Thanksgiving, but flying into Miami 2 days pre-cruise.

Staying at the Hampton Inn Brickell.

Can anyone give suggestions what we can do on Thanksgiving day, when everything is closed and everyone is having turkey with their families???

I have found that it is just nice to stroll around Miami on a Holiday when there is very little traffic. If you like to walk take a cab over to South Beach and walk the boardwalk and then walk around South Beach.

Then be sure to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving Meal in Miami.

This sounds nice, indeed. Thanks!

Any Miami local know if there are ANY stores open on this day?

Most chain grocery stores are closed and all retailers are usually closed and getting ready for black friday. Restaurants usually open later in the day.

I would just add that just like elsewhere in the USA you might see some of the chain stores opening sometime on Thursday as they are all trying to get that leg up on Black Friday.

It's a nice time to walk around the city without all that traffic.

I was wondering the same thing. We're flying in Thanksgiving morning and looking for a restaurant recommendation for dinner.

It's a bit south, but our favorite neighborhood place in Palmetto bay is called Kris's, and it sits on US 1 & SW 168 St.....Great turkey dinners all year long, but especially at the holidays.....they are open...
