Default Happy Chanukahgiving or Thankskah!

For the first time since 1888 Chanukah will begin on Thanksgiving, very early. This will happen again in 2070 and 2165 . Happy holidays!

I'm glad you mentioned that the last time this happened was in 1888, because I just said the other day, "I don't remember it ever being THIS early".

We've ordered our new "Menurkey" to commemorate this event! We may have to deep fry the turkey to go with the latkes!

I bet there's going to be a lot of creative menu items in a month. I'm not a fan of turkey, but I'll have to try making sweet potato latkes.

Interesting information - thanks!
My daughter gave me a new Jewish calendar in September, saying, "I think there is a mistake; it shows Hanukkah begins in November - that must be wrong."

Wishing a Healthy, Happy Holiday to everyone!

For fun, I just looked at the listings for Jewish holidays over several years, and it seems that Hanukkah has started during the last few days of November almost every eight years (more or less). And there's been times that the holiday has started as late as December 25 or 26.

I'm brining the turkey in Manishewitz -- my daughter found an entire Thanksgivakkuh menu. She's making the stuffing (to be baked in the oven) with challah. And I found some dreidel/Star of David pasta at Bed Bath and Beyond, so I'm going to make a lukchen kugel with that.

Also bought some new Chanukah lights today to put up with the Thanksgiving decorations.

Sounds like it will be a fun day. Since we're only half Jewish here (my half), we usually don't make a big deal out of Chanukah, but this year the grandsons will each get a gift the first night.

I have a wooden turkey I made in 1992 in my neighborhood craft group. I'm thinking about adding (pretend) candles to its feathers this year. I could easily drill holes on the top and use real candles, but, being wood, I don't think it would be too safe to light! I'm going to 1) the party store and 2) the craft store this weekend to see if I can find anything suitable.

We did! It arrived last week. We can't wait to use it this year.
