Here is a strange twisted little story, when the opposite happens...
we sailed in June and were in an Ocean Suite. Two adults, no children. We were sailing with my sister and husband, who were in a stateroom couple doors down.
We had a neighbor that called security on us four times...
day 1. he called at 430 pm though we knew nothing of it till later in this little story. Security apparently told them to call back if there was a problem later as it was, only 430 pm and he simply stated he could hear us talking.
day 2. I had organized a cabin crawl and having a suite, usually the larger room is where the crawl ends to award prizes for the poker draw. There were 18-20 in the room, however it was 330 pm afternoon. There was no tv, no music, simply people meeting each other, it lasted half hour.
He called security who came to our door and again we knew nothing till others were leaving and someone said, security are standing outside your door.They apparently went back to guest services stating" there was a little chatter but nothing that warranted knocking on our door, so they left; I tried reasoning with my neighbor, knocked on his door to introduce myself, explain we are not a partying bunch of nuts who are loud and drinking and sir, it is only 430 pm. He screamed " you're a bunch of fk..... idiots, and slammed the door in my face WOW
day 3. Sister and her husband in room again, we were having no drinks, no music, no tv, simply talking. its 10 pm Security comes to door and are very arrogant. The officer states they had a complaint and demands that our guests leave. I tried talking to him, wait, what are we doing, look, there is no alcohol, no tv, no music, we are talking, four adults... why must they leave. he stood with his arms folded and DEMANDED I SAID YOUR GUESTS MUST LEAVE! To make a long story short, I insisted on seeing supervisor etc etc, and it was taken up again the next day with head pursor guest relations. ( my sister and husband left as asked, which I felt was absolutely ridiculous)
I mentioned it to my room steward, asking, whats up. Its mid afternoon he complains its 10 at night and four adults talking and he complains... whats going on here. Cant have sister and husband in room he complains. Steward advised at 5 each night this couple close curtains, do not want their room made up, do not go to dinner, and order only room service. Basically shut down the hatch at 5pm.
That's fine but to impact other cruisers to the point there is security outside our door, and we are being complained about mid afternoon? ten at night no music no drinks no nothing but four adults... unfair in my books
day 4. we leave our room to see security standing outside the door, " just listening" as they put it. That was enough for me...
Down to guest services for our meeting we had arranged night prior. we discussed the attitude of the security guard , how he would not listen, cut me off trying to speak, insisted my sister leave my yelling to put it mildly , as four of us simply sitting on the sofa... They advised us they had security outside our door three different times, and never did anything we do, or they hear, warrant a complaint. They checked with the room on the other side of us, and they reportedly stated they heard nothing not as much as a tv
Guest services advised it was not fair that we would have to walk like mice, and talk like mice, and not be able to have two adults in room with us, because we had someone next door who wanted to put down the hatch at 5pm. Sure they had every right to do so, but not expect the entire ship to sleep because they want to sound at all ever. As far as I was concerned, it was just as well we had an inside room, an ocean view, a whatever, but why pay for a suite if not as much as my sister can drop by to have a chat...
Carnival really really did good here...They did not have another suite available, and rather than have this guy move, they moved us to an extended balcony room on next floor, if we agreed of course. ( sure it wasn't a suite but we had three nights of our suite) what makes this very SWEET is, they refunded the TOTAL cost of our suite, and charged us for balcony only. Resulted in a refund on our account of 1700.00
They realized, they stated, that the complaints were coming when in fact one time an officer was outside the doors, and not a sound other than wheres the camera.... they realized it was not possible to reasonably enjoy our cruise with someone constantly complaining.... and thus refunded the suite we were unable to use reasonably due to the security, the complaints etc. They also advised the security guard who yelled and demanded my sister and husband leave was way out of line, and was taken out of public duties other than port days when he would be needed for leaving boarding ship..
Before we left the ship last evening, I slipped a note under the guys door from the suite incident and said, yes sarcastic I will admit but he was rude, he was a complainer, and he was selfish to think once he decided to close things down at 5pm life had to stop for everyone on the ship.. we got the the point we wouldn't laugh or it was sshhh don't laugh guy next door,.. walking on egg shells anyway the note read ...... " thank you for the unfounded complaints, we are leaving with a 1700.00 refund all because of you!"
