Default New Year's Eve

What do you do to celebrate on New Year's Eve?

Do you got to a party?

Stay home?

Any special traditions?

We will host 15 people at our home for cocktails and snacks...we were hoping to light the patio fire pit, but the weather doesn't look it will cooperate this evening....ah well...

That sounds wonderful. Too bad your Florida weather isn't going to co-operate to have your fire pit.

Snow squalls are forecast for us for the next couple of days, so we won't be going far. Luckily, it was clear last week and we could drive down to mom's for Christmas Day with the family.
For New Year's Eve, DH will pick up Canadian style Chinese food at a nearby restaurant and we will stay home, with the dog, by the fire.
Tomorrow, we take down the tree and the Christmas decorations and get back to 'normal'.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all.

I like your idea of the Canadian style Chinese food and sitting by the fire with your dog.

Sorry to hear that you have to work today.

At least your DH and you were able to snuggle and one of you didn't have to work last night.

Ruth,

This year we are going to go to Cuba for a change for both New years and Christmas. Will be something very different. But it beats shovelling snow.

We usually host our square dance club, starting around 6:30PM and have a pot luck dinner and then play games and also do some dancing. Some will stay until midnight. However as we are all getting older the most are leaving for home around 10:30PM. They also have to keep an eye on the weather here as we have had to quit early as heavy snowfall or blizzard's have come up.

When we first started this about 20 years ago; there were guests here until 2:00Am and one New Year's we were still dancing at 3:30 AM. By the time the last person went out the door Bob came into the house (we have a dance hall connected ) and changed his clothes and went to the barn to milk the cows. What a long night that was. Also in those "good old days we would dance till midnight and then eat at midnight, then dance again.

Ah, but this year I won't have to decorate. cook. set tables, wash dishes, etc., etc., as we will be on the Statendam where there will not be any snow, blizzard's or cows to milk.

Hope everyone has a great time at whatever they ars doing New Years Eve.

Helen

This will be our THIRD YEAR IN A ROW for our NYE cruise. Hope we can keep the tradition. The price has gone up considerably each year.

I am making a nice dinner, and we will stay in with snacks later in the evening. Sadly, I have been so sick this holiday... had major surgery at the end of November and then got bronchitis (requiring anti-biotics). I think the surgery recovery and the bronchitis are "fighting each other" and neither one is winning! Boo. It's been a rough month.

But...

a very Happy New Year to all. God bless.
