Inside cabins on Royal Princess?

I've read all the reviews about how the balconies on this ship are so much smaller so we are thinking about an inside cabin.

Do any of the inside cabins have little sofas?

Can you get beside each side of the bed if it's configured as a queen?

Are in insides that appear to be parallel to the hallway larger than the other ones?

Thanks for your help!

When I was on the Royal in Dec., I saw the interior of a few as I was walking down the hallway and the doors were open for various reasons. Didn't see any couches. Thought I saw a parallel inside and it appeared you might be able to get around the queen configured bed. They looked very cozy and nice.

We had inside (not parallel) and definitely no sofa. We split the bed so that we had more walking space between the beds.

No sofa in most Princess cabins unless you book a mini-suite or on the Royal or Regal, a Deluxe balcony. Instead, you have a large, open closet area that doubles as a dressing area with far more storage than I've had on three other lines. The bathroom door usually opens from the closet area, not the hallway, so there's less light or disturbance if someone else is using it.

Given a choice, I'd book a sideways inside cabin. My sister had one on the Royal in October and we've booked Caribe deck sideways insides for our September Royal cruise. There's plenty of space in the cabin, even in a queen configuration.

Thank You for those Pictures. When we have had an inside, we split the beds for more interior space too.

My DH and I go round and round about the type of Cabin. We really are never in our room. We are Trivia Addicts. Might as well admit it. We also donate generously to the casino. We eat at least three meals a day. We always take shore excursions. I play Bingo some times. Only Exhaustion drives us to the cabin. And on Princess...I just love it. The Trivia never ends.

He did chew on a cigar. So that had to have a balcony. I never sit on one. We live in Florida. I am very fair skinned. My father had melanoma so sun..I avoid. He does or did a little. So now smoking is banned on balconies.( Thank You! Princess). I have booked an OV on the Plaza Deck for Our next cruise. I have always wanted to be close to the International Court. I am addicted to cookies too. And I love the coffee bar. And it is close to the Computer lab..the MDR where we will dine....BUT. I am tempted to book a cruise on the royal and see Barbartos one more time..St. Lucia for the first time. Ditto St. Kitts. and cancel that one.

The Inside.is not that much more on the Royal than the OV on the Ruby.

your pictures...look fine for us. Cozy. Storage space seems pretty good. Shower a little bigger? Thank you, thank you. DH will whine and complain that he is claustrophobic, but I will tell him to buck upl He was in the Coast Guard. And I think his issue with Insides is that we sleep and sleep. We have to have a wake up call for every day.

I am thrilled with those pictures. MUCH better than I thought.

Thanks for posting these photos. We have a "sideways" cabin booked on the Regal later this fall. We did it because of location but were wondering if we did the right thing. Appears that we did :). One question, though, because the bed is close to the wall on the hallway side (we split the beds for more room) did you have any problem with noise in the hallway at night? Also, it looks like there is less closet space than on other Princess ships. Did you have enough room?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Karen,

I traveled alone, was on Royal Princess for two weeks, and brought only casual wear clothing. As you can see from the pictures I used literally none of the nine shelves in the closet area near the safe, most all of my pants and 'whites' remained in my suitcase stowed underneath the bed (I would pull things out as I needed them), and there seemed to be plenty of space for two people who don't 'bring everything including the kitchen sink'. ;)

You could also possibly relocate the beach towels and life jackets above the main closet to an area underneath the head of your bed to give you more usable space.

:D

We had the horizontal inside on the TA and there was more than enough space in the cabin and closets for us. We are lighter packers so I didn't bring everything and the kitchen sink but hubby tends to pack more. The only problem I had with the cabin was the light shining into the cabin at night from the hallway as the opening for the door was wider than the door and then it reflected off the mirror opposite, our cabin steward bought us duct tape and we taped it closed at night.

I am not normally worried by the light but I think the angle of the light shining in and reflection made it bad.

We didn't have a problem with noise at all - no slamming doors or noise like on previous princess cruises.

We were on M deck aft.

I was in C106.

No sofa

Yes, can definitely get to each side of the bed.

Mine was a sideways and I am not sure if it was bigger, but the size worked fine for me.

Thanks everyone for your comments about the "sideways" cabins. I'm sure we made the right choice. We are not "everything and the sink" packers so we should have plenty of room.

Julia’s Journey’s- Thanks for the tipo about the light under the door. It would drive me nuts ;). Instead of duct tape would putting a folded beach towel work as well? If not we'll bring some tape.

One thing I noticed about the cabin door for my stateroom, was that even after I had closed it and set the deadbolt there was still 'some' light coming through along the sides. I gave the door a gentle push and it seemed to 'click' into place, better sealing the door in the frame and eliminating that issue. There was a very tiny bit of light coming in at the bottom, so I put a pillow across it, but that may be a trip hazard for the other person in your room. A small rolled up towel would also work.
