Costa Deployment 2015

So it is that time of year where Costa will be presenting it's ship deployment plans for the 2015 season.

The first news is Costa will only have two ships in South America, Favolosa and the Pacifica.

Fortuna will be reposition to the Caribbean with possible embarkation / disembarkation in Miami, La Romana (Dominican Republic) and Pointe-a-Pitre (Guadeloupe).

Luminosa will sail from Miami, Mediterranea and Magica will sail from La Romna and Pointe-a-Pitre.

Looks like Costa'a line up in Northern Europe are as follows: Costa Fortuna, Costa Pacifica, Costa Luminosa, Costa neoRomantica & Costa Favolosa.

I asked if I could cancel both cruises and get both deposits refunded as it is not worth flying all the way to Rome just to do an 11-day cruise. Even though they didn't have to, they agreed and I am getting a full refund of both deposits without penalty.

Just curious. Why wouldn't you be able to get your deposit back if you cancelled for ANY reason before you make your final payment when it's due?

Different regional sales areas have different prices and different cancellation clauses. I paid half (or would have) of what someone in the North American market would, but any cancellation is subject to 30% of the deposit being nonrefundable right from the start.

I think it sucks!... because I booked the 'original' itinerary (from Civitavecchia, not Napoli) which 'overnighted' in Istanbul. So I cancelled.

For us the ports of Volos, Naupia, Kalamta is so much better for a quick winter escape than the other options to the Canary Islands.

The embarkation ports of Savona, Marseille or Naples are not as convenient as Civitavecchia/Rome.

Redeployments and missed ports (due to weather or other factors) are are things one must 'just accept' when booking cruises... after all, they're ships.

While the redeployment of the neoRomantica was a disapointment (for me), I must admit Costa's customer service rep. - Juanita Campiot of Costa Pacific Asia Operations - could not have been better! From booking (switching my embarkation port for the Fascinosa from Savona to Civitavecchia) to cancellation (refunding of both - Fascinosa & neoRomantica - cruise deposits without penalty even though the cruises were not 'linked' i.e. were booked seperately), Juanita provided 5-star service I'd classify as 'Above & Beyond'... kudos!

Now, if only they'd improve the buffets (to match the service). ;)

The end is nigh for the Classica, there are two gaps in her cruise list (April / May and October / November). Which one will she be neo'd.

neoClassica is due to spend winter (December / March) 2014/2015 based in the Indian Ocean, cruising out of Mauritius.

I thought the Classica was on the list to be sold- not exactly sure where I read it but it was on a thread here some time ago.

Tanya, could be another case of Costa confusion right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing, i.e. one department is selling the Classica while another it getting it refurbished.

Luke is great. You have a good memory- he will be 9 on April 1st. Getting bigger every day. He heavily into swimming, surfing and board paddling so he eats like a horse! He also plays Rugby Union and Baseball so between all the driving to training of various types we are very busy.

Correct, together with the Atlantica. Both have been refurbished for the Chinese market, and their cruises don't show up on Costa's European or American web sites.

Pity, a nice cruise from Singapore to Shanghai would be really nice.

I can view that cruise from the Costa UK site but it is not on the Australian site. It is really weird how they sell different cruise to different markets.
