We cruised last June with Uniworld and scheduled to cruise the Rhine the end of June. My husband wore a nice pr of dress pants most nights with a polo shirt and a dress shirt for the two more formal evenings. There were many men with sport jackets but it's not necessary . I asked my husband the question about the jeans and he said he would not wear them to dinner. I have white jeans that I am taking and I could wear them with a dressy blouse for dinner.. I am sure if your husband wears the jeans with a nice shirt he will look fine.. You will love the cruise.... Uniworld is wonderful.. Have a great time..

There aren't really rules where they'd refuse admittance into the dining room, just recommendations. We've seen men in jeans in the dining room and it's not worth going out to pay another pair of "smart trousers" just for dinner. I will say, my husband has reduced the number of jeans he takes just because they're heavier and take up more room in packing. But he already has plenty of khakis and navy pants he wears to work. It's much more of a business casual type attire (at least for men). As long as it's not jeans and t-shirts (and even then they'd still allow you in the dining room).

junsam - you will be fine. That was essentially my packing list - 1 khaki pants, 1 black jeans. I wore more button-down shirts than polos but you won't have to dine alone if your husband dresses like you're describing. Have a great time!

Thanks for your responses I have a problem getting MOH to wear anything other than tracksuit pants or shorts even for a wedding and we don't frequent formal events

We just returned from a wonderful Uniworld cruise, and guests were indeed asked not to wear jeans to dinner. No one would have been kicked out or denied entry I don't think, but certainly a nice pair of slacks and a polo shirt were preferred--and requested.
