Default We are going

Hi Keith,
We're on this cruise. We arrive in Ft Lauderdale on November 6 at the end of our transatlantic Westerdam cruise.
We transfer straight to the Summit, so we'll be nice and relaxed and mellow at the mid-point of our vacation.

Are you on this cruise also?

Best wishes,
Steve and Chris.

Should be a good trip. Are you travelling alone?

There's also a thread for this cruise under Celebrity Connections in Roll Calls if you feel like 'meeting' some other cruisers there.

Chris and I are from Melbourne. We did our first cruise together in 1999, didn't go again until 2002, but have since been on 4 cruises. We're pretty hooked on it now. Are you a regular cruiser?

Steve.

Hi Mike and Don,
Check out this thread for a review of similar cruise.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=156264

We would be happy to report back on our return. We get home on November 27th, so there should be time.
Did you end up choosing a cc cabin?

Regards,
Steve (and Chris)

Hi Steve and Chris,

I am travelling with my partner Mike. We are both from London (GAM and GWM). This will be our fifth cruise, second trip on Celebrity - we sailed on Infinity 5 weeks ago, out of San Fransisco to Alaska for our 21st anniversary.

We will fly to Fort Lauderdale for a pre-cruise stay but no post-cruise stay this time.

Have you booked any shore excursion yet? Any suggestions?

Keith

Hi Mike,

We almost booked the 4th December cruise, but the 4th is too close to Christmas and our next holiday will be Feb-March.

I will keep you informed on our return back to London.

Hi Keith,

We too thought it was too close to Chirstmas and then decided it would be a present to ourselves. We did book into a CC Stateroom. Thanks for the link - it was very helpful.

We leave Canada on December 1st. We are spending 3 days in Ft Lauderdale to try to "de-stress" before this great voyage.

Mike

Hi Keith and Mike,

You'll probably find this amusing, but I had no idea what GAM and GWM meant. (I thought it had something to do with your postal code in London! Anyway, a Google search sorted me out - cool)
Chris and I are in our mid forties, and very suburban GWMs (can't you tell !).

There is a thread for this cruise under Roll Calls for Celebrity "Connections".
Join us over there as well if you like.
A group of us are doing a day tour of Costa Rica in a mini-van. (including zip-lining) if you are interested.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...3&page=1&pp=25

We haven't organised any other tours as yet.

Steve.

Hi Steve,

I have already signed up for the Cruise Critic Connections Party!
We would like to know more about the Costa Rica tour. We are not a sporty couple, especially Mike, I don't think zip-lining would be his cup of tea.

We stayed in CC Stateroom on our last cruise, this time we decided on a stateroom with balcony only.

Hi Keith,
The Costa Rica tour is somewhat flexible and is USD35 per person. Admission charges are extra and the zip-lining is optional. (not even sure if I want to do it!)
Here is what we have from the tour guide:

I`ll be able for that date; and I have a great tour to the rainforest (Carara National Park), where wildlife can be enjoyed, you can see scarlet macaw, monkeys, and others animals; so I can offer you like ziplining, skywalk, tipical tours, and anoher more things that I can add to my dear friends who visit Costa Rica.

But I need a minimum of 8 passengers to honor this rate $35.00 usd. per person. Can you talk with more people in the cruise ship. You can accommodate the people you want, you only have to tell me the right number, so I can look for the right transportation.

The prices of zipline goes around $50.00 usd. per person; and the sky cost is $40.00 usd. per person; but I`d try to get a better price, but I`m not sure. I`ll do my best.

If you are interested, please be kind to confirm the tour.

Sincerely yours,

Mauricio Vásquez Pizarro

I have booked Mauricio for the 13th November. Currently there are six people confirmed. If you search through the roll calls and Costa Rica threads his name comes up again and again with high recommendation.

Here is an example:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=204401

Regards,
Steve.

Is there anyone out there going on this cruise.
Not long to go now.

Hi guys,

We are still here! I have been busy with work and home (DIY) so I have not been keeping up with the chats.

We have begun to investigate shore excursions.

Aruba - Sailing (catamaran) & Snorkeling tour with Celebrity.
No plans for Panama Canal.
Costa Rica - Love to go to Carara National Park. Is Mauricio's tour full?
Possibly sightsee independently in Huatulco, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas.

Keith and Mike,
Good to hear from you. It's only just over 3 weeks until we leave.
There is still room on Mauricio's tour. This is what I have organised with the others:

Mauricio is happy to organize transport for whatever number we have. I just have to let him know 1 week before the 13th November. That makes it embarkation day.

So what I propose to do is keep a list here as we’ve been doing, and then contact Mauricio once we are on board. He is a very trusting soul, and doesn’t require a deposit up front. I would like to be accurate with the number I give him.

I will send the confirmation e-mail to Mauricio on the morning of the first sea day (7th November). Before that time I will need confirmation from each party going.

You can either contact me once aboard in cabin 8096 – Stephen Norris, or I am happy to contact you if you provide me with your cabin number before we leave. (Chris and I depart Australia on October 14th – yippee) You can e-mail me at stephennorris@ozemail.com.au.

So if you'd like to go, just send me an e-mail and I'll put you on the list. Currently we have 20 people going.

See you soon,
Steve.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick response.

Our room number is 7066. You can email me at worldcruise05@yahoo.co.uk

Last night we watched a travel programme about the north of Costa Rica. What a beautiful green country, nice people, colourful birds and most interesting animals, black monkeys with white testicles! Unfortunately, they did not mention the area we are going. However, they did give us some idea about zip lining. To avoid embarrassing ourselves, Michael and I will not do zip lining but we enjoy nature trails.

As so many are joining the trip, is there any itinerary of the tour?

Keith and Mike,
I will write to Mauricio in the next week or so to firm up start and finish times and try and get a more formal itinerary.
I know it definitely includes the National Park, skywalk and optional zip lining. I believe there was an alternative for those people who didn't want to participate (or watch) the zip-lining.

If you do a search for Mauricio in the Ports of Call section under Costa Rica there are lots of glowing reports about his tours. Apparently he is very good at finding the animals we all want to see.
(He is, however, not fantastic at providing details by e-mail).

More later,
Best wishes
Steve (and Chris)

Hey Keith and Mike:

Just noticed this forum thread today. My partner Jim and I are also booked on this cruise. I noticed that you guys haven't posted any info on the Celebrity Roll Call thread but have been chatting with "Cands" Chris & Steve every once in awhile.

I just sent Steve an email to be added to his Costa Rican Mauricio adventure that he has taken the pleasure of setting up for us Summitiers.

Jim (GWM-44) and I (GLM-41) live just outside of San Francisco (San Bruno, CA). We have been together 9.5 years and are sailing on our 3 Celebrity Cruise.

We look forward to meeting you two along with Chris & Steve onboard.
