Rare shof515 Posted July 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Starting cruises after 11/1/14 no smoking except in the casino then they need to re-design the breakaway/gateaway. It will be impossible to walk across it. As is, right now it is bad with the smoke smell.

While they did not give a date, they did say it was going to be addressed. I guess we have to wait until Wed now to find out for sure.

idiebabe Posted July 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2014 I am happy, if it's true. But I know there will be a lot of upset people.... There will be a lot of people upset especially Carnival cruisers who just switched to NCL because they were told the policy wasn't changing! (I'm not one of them!) Very shady, IMO! kcwingwalker Posted July 14, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) Well have to say that it's not unexpected and have thought that sooner or later it would happen. Looks like it might be sooner................bummer for all those CCL folks who were planning on dashing over. So will sit tight for the official announcement and enjoy the fireworks:) Edited July 14, 2014 by kcwingwalker

CasinoCruzGirl Posted July 14, 2014 #20 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I'll wait till Wednesday I do have a cruise booked end of November but I won't cancel will just go to designated smoking areas. But I am curious as someone just stated that only the casino would be smoking. I find that not to be true if they are cutting out smoking on the balconies I don't see them cutting it in other areas. But like I said I'll wait till Wednesday and see what it's all about but no chance of me canceling because of it. I'm sure many will be letting the balloons loose lol. Steph27 Posted July 14, 2014 #21 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Great news! Looking forward to the official press release. Only sailed NCL once before in 2005. I have preferred other lines like Oceania, Princess, Celebrity and Crystal partly for their stricter smoking policy.

Apples to Oranges! NCL is comparable to Carnival and RCL!
meglet Posted July 15, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 15, 2014 I guess I'll have to especially enjoy my Dawn cruise later this month because it will be my last cruise on NCL and possibly my last cruise ever if this turns out to be true.
cruisinmeme Posted July 15, 2014 #24 Share Posted July 15, 2014 The casino is nearly unbearable now - I can only imagine what it will be like when all of the smokers are congregated there! Oh well, I can avoid the casino. I can't avoid a smoker next door whose smoke drifts over to our balcony and into our room. I'm going to get some popcorn ready too and see how this plays out. :D Correct about the casino being unbearable. I was thinking it will take a mask to get near it now. Sadly I love love the casino. Not too awful in early am.
Johnny Bananas Posted July 15, 2014 #25 Share Posted July 15, 2014 I hope this turns out to be true. Was seriously considering canceling my suites for 2/2015 and 2/2016 since NCL was turning into a floating ashtray.
