brn2crz - Hi. We may be sailing on the Rhapsody in May, and was wondering if you could recommend a city to stay in outside of Galveston. I would probably book through priceline. Thanks. On our last 2 sailings out of Galveston we stayed in Clearwater(priceline) one time, and at the Hotel Galvez the other time. The Hotel Galvez(website booking) is showing no rooms available for my time frame. Thanks again.

I am not sure where Clearwater is..
Do you mean ClearLAke??
There are severa on Bay Area blvd that give you easy I-45 access.I will have to get back to you on their names, one is Hampton Inn..You could do a CLearLAke Area search...
I am currently recommemding the Days Inn & SUites IN Dickinson,it is right on 45,20 min from the port, has a JAck in the Box,McDonalds,
BK Sonic right there for breakdfast..
I am running out the door, but I will sending some links this evening....
Also,for a very expensive,but great place

Yes, it was Clearlake..sorry, guess I was thinking of Clearwater, Florida, LOL .
I appreciate the information. If we book the cruise, I am "thinking" we will priceline a room for Houston North. It's a long drive from OKC, so we will be ready to stop, and won't mind the hour and a half the next day. Thanks again!

If you're going to be staying on the North side of Houston, you might try stopping in Huntsville or Conroe since I'm guessing you're coming down I-45. Huntsville should have some decent hotels because Sam Houston State U. is there (and also the prison but somehow I doubt you'll be interested in touring that). Huntsville has a couple of Mexican Restaurants and a Chili's, and the usual fast food joints.
If you want to be in a little closer to town. There are plenty of hotels along 45 and any and every kind of eatery you can imagine.

I would too caitlin,but most are not willing to spend 200 pre-cruise,for a room...Nor would I..
I wonder if you get amuesment passes or anything??I know they provide parking to cruisers out of the POH,wonder about Galveston?

OH MY GOSH!!!
We stayed on the Stacia-Leigh last weekend, before our cruise on Rhapsody!
It was really nice actually. We had a small but comfortable room. The housekeeper showed us all of the rooms and I didn't see any problems with them.
