NCL AMERICA RAISES $250,000 ON PRIDE OF AMERICA CHARITY CRUISE
HONOLULU, August 18, 2005 - NCL America announced today it raised $250,000 during a special charity cruise on July 22 aboard Pride of America, the second U.S.-flagged passenger ship in the company's Hawai`i fleet. The money raised on the charity cruise benefits three local not-for-profit organizations: Child & Family Service, the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, and Kapi'olani Children's Miracle Network. Pride of America is the largest U.S.-flagged passenger cruise ship ever built and the first newly constructed cruise ship to join the U.S. registry in half a century.
"The successful outcome of this year's charity cruise has been made possible through the dedication and tireless efforts of people and organizations that want to make a difference," said Robert Kritzman, NCL's executive vice president and managing director of Hawai`i operations. "Hawai`i is our home and we are proud to partner with these organizations, which make such an important contribution to our community. We look forward to continuing and expanding our relationships with them."
Almost 1,200 people sailed on the charity cruise. Guests enjoyed a full evening and morning of culinary delights at Pride of America's eight different restaurants and 10 bars. Guests were also able to enjoy the ship's many amenities, including two swimming pools, a spa and fitness center, entertainment, and a gyroscope. NCL America donated the use of the ship and all operational, food and beverage services and amenities for the cruise.
