I know there are 55+ cruises and there are single cruises, but are there any single over 55 cruises? I want to get my dad on one.Being over 55 and also a single male may I make a suggestion. If you HAVE to GET your dad on one of these cruises Not a good idea. If he really wanted to do this he would have already done it. I think the singles cruises are way too pushy. My choice is a regular cruise and just let what ever may happen happen. I found few other singles on the cruise I was on but I had a very enjoyable time with the many other folks I met and plan to remeet this coming year.
I know that Dad is prabably not doing as well as you would like but guys sometimes need to do this on there own. Don't know where you are located, but if there is a Panera restaurant near by suggest that he go there for brakfast coffee and a bagel. Many good looking 55 plus ladies frequent my local Panera and I would imagine it is the same all over. Also a good crowd of other old guys so there are all sorts of friendly groups hanging out on any given day.

I know there are 55+ cruises and there are single cruises, but are there any single over 55 cruises? I want to get my dad on one.I was wondering the same thing for my mom! Have u had luck finding anything good? I'm just curious,I want my mother to meet people her age,she is way too amazing of a person
I'm 57 and just booked a group cruise for 40+ singles on the HAL Westerdam in January. I have been on over 30 cruises and this will only be my second time as a solo. I don't want to take a chance with an unknown roomie. How was your experience if I may ask? I do a lot of things by myself but I'd love my mother to experience the freedom of just doing things
are friendly and included me and we often went off the ship together on excursions. Try to get "anytime" or "open" dining, so you can be seated with many others each night, as that is a good way to meet people. I am mid fifties, by the way.

I unexpectedly became single two years ago. Now, I travel quite extensively alone. Often, I will sit at a bar or if a restaurant has bar type seating at the kitchen. I usually have a good time watching people. Haven't met anyone special or found people that I continue relationships with.... But I have gotten great tips for travel and entertainment.
I can entertain myself and be quite happy, but I do love the random conversations that come with passing conversations with strangers!
I guess I'm not as outgoing as you. I'm also "suddenly single" after my husband passed away, but we loved cruising so I tried it alone--and altho people were nice, I was lonely: eating alone, or being the 3rd or 5th wheel at a table or on an excursion was not enjoyable. Also, there is no one to share experiences with. And then there's the single supplement, which is daunting. I would like to cruise again, but need advice on how to make it more enjoyable. As a 59 yo man, I also have that same concern. In fact I had booked a 14 night cruise and joined the roll call. Well, after a few months of seeing only couples on that roll call, I decided to go a different route. After a lot of investigating (I hate that word but thats what it was) I booked a cruise on the NCL Epic. The Epic has studio staterooms designed for solo cruisers and a "living room" social gathering place where solo travelers can mingle and get to know each other. I was looking to cruise sometime in the Nov/Dec area and lurked the Epics roll calls to see with which group of fellow cruisers I would best fit in with. Each roll call seems to have its own personality, so to speak. I decided on the Epic Dec 1 cruise best suited me.
Hope this helps you. I believe that both men and women solo cruisers are looking to have that cruise experience and to be able to share it with other solos when you want companionship. Combined that with the freedom to of having "ME TIME" creates that perfect cruise.
That is great information. Thanks for suggesting a do-able solution.
... Many good looking 55 plus ladies frequent my local Panera and I would imagine it is the same all over....What makes you think Dad is looking for 55+ ladies? Maybe he's looking for something much younger.

I would like to cruise again, but need advice on how to make it more enjoyable.I became single after the marital breakup after 37 years. I mourned, but I guess in a different way. My first solo was a 5 nighter, it was rough. The eating, the sharing, Couldn't face elegant night. I had to go up to the top level to avoid strolling couples. On cruise 2, I decided to chit chat with people, mostly on Lido, plunked myself at people's tables instead of sitting by myself, it was small talk of course. Met another female who was looking to cruise again (her group wasn't), we got along pretty well, became roomshares two times. Now she's off to Alaska with some others we met while on a cruise. I would have gone, but I'm tied up with my ex going through a Hospice situation. We had a friendship despite other things. To me I had a great sense of freedom cruising, but also some down times sharing with the former "familiar" relationship.
