Too much for Christmas cruise
After talking to our travel agent today we have decided that going at Christmas time is WAY too expensive. Approx. $2300 a piece! Two years ago we went at the beginning of November. I can't remember whether that was during hurricane season or not, but I know it wasn't any where near that amount. What months is hurricane season? I guess I am willing to take a chance with a hurricane and not have to pay as much. It would work for me to go on the November 21 sailing that one of the ships is taking to Eastern Carribean. If it works for my college bound daughter. It is so hard to find a time that works for everyone.
Thanks for all your help.

You will find the least expensive cruises when school is in session. ANY school vacation period can bump up prices. ANY holiday can also bump up prices. The first 3 weeks of December have historically been great times to cruise. BE AWARE, however, that many Florida ports may be experiencing cool or cold weather. Even the Bahamas can be a little chilly. If you check, you will be surprised how many weeks SOME schools are having a break. Good luck finding a reasonably priced cruise

Hi TomCat,
Yes, I believe that was when we went also. Also the Western. We had a wonderful time and it was the perfect ship for our first cruise. My husband actually wants to go on the same ship but I said lets try a different one. I just hope we do get to go again.
I am short on time right now but I will be back on later. Nice chatting with you.

If you're interested in Eastern/Southern Caribbean leaving on November 21st, I just booked a great bargain a few days ago on Celebrity's Zenith. $1,032 each for a 14 day cruise (too long for you?). It's a great itinerary, and goes to a lot of islands.
I agree: they pretty much jack the prices up at Christmas.

Your Nov. 21 cruise will be over Thanksgiving, and won't exactly be cheap, either. Holidays are always more expensive to cruise. Thanksgiving cruises are also very popular, because people get two days off of work, and kids are out of school.

Toby,
Are you a glass-half-full or a glass-half-empty kind of a gal?
Just be glad that you're not pricing New Year's cruises. They're MORE expensive than Christmas!
