Default Caribbean in the summer

Why are there so few ships doing Caribbean routes in the summer? Is it as hot as the blazes there or can the lines make more money on other routes in the summer?

Hi: I don't know what cruise line you are looking at, but RCL has many ships doing the Caribbean all summer long. Just to name a few-Adventure, Voyager. Explorer, Enchantment. They leave every week from either a port in Fla. or San Juan.

I was thinking of Celebrity and HAL only having one ship sail in the Caribbean in the summer, or Princess only having one or two. It seems to be an offseason there for a lot of the lines.

It's a bit of both.

Ships that do Alaska or other Northern routes in the summer often are in the Caribbean in the winter. Tough to do Alaska or the Baltic or New England (or even the Med) during the winter, so those ships move to winter locations

It is more lucrative for them to do Alaska and European cruises in the summer.

For the very reason that DH and I do not cruise in the summer - too hot and hurricane season.

Hi, how hot is it in the summer and how often to they have to change routes due to hurricanes? We will be doing, Belieze, Roatan, Grand Cayman and Cozumel in June. Should I be worried?
