Default First Cruise, Nassau Bahamas Suggestions?

Hi, I've been reading these boards for a few weeks now, husband and I and 2 daughters, ages 14 & 18 will be going on the Spirit leaving out of NY on 5/14. I have always wanted to cruise, we have never taken a 'fancy' vacation, been to Disney a few times. We are really looking forward to this, just booked 2 weeks ago, a last minute decision. My 2 'princesses' have always liked the finer things in life, (when they can get them!) so I think they will really enjoy this vacation, and what makes parents more happy than to see their kids having a good time? We are going to go to Disney for the day in Fla., and we will snorkel in Great Stirrup Cay, but are confused on what to do in Nassau. We don't want to do anything too expensive, would love some suggestions. Also, is there a beach there to enjoy without having to pay an excursion fee?
The only thing I am nervous about is getting sea sick. We will all take the bonine pills and start the day before, but reading about those huge waves recently has me a bit nervous. If you take a few benadryl if you get sick, will falling asleep make you oblivious to the waves? Just don't want to 'throw-up' on my vacation! (Who does!)
Also, while my younger daughter can join the teens, will there be a way for my 18 yr. old to meet people her age?

Hello...just wanted to assure that being your 18 year old will be able to mingle amongst fellow people his age. It is a little difficult to actually find anyone that will just come up to him/her and want to hang out. Many people his/her age is most likely with family. There are several " teen clubs" that they could attend, but don't worry, there's no alcohol and it isn't the atypical "club" that you're picturing. What my brother and I used to enjoy doing was to bring our snorkel and snorkel at Bahamas/Bermuda. It saves you A LOT of money and you never have to be worried if hte snorkels that are provided are sanitized or not. The best suggestion that I have is to ask around while you're on the ship. THe orientation meeting will give you bits of advice on where to go and you'll receive shore excursions once you're on deck. Hope you have fun, my boyfriend and I will be going on the sister ship, Norwegian Dawn on 6/10/06.

Oh and by the way, I always had sea sick when I was younger, but overtime, I realized that most of it is mental. Try not to think about it and just HAVE FUN! I have not , pardon my french, "puked" since I tried not thinking about it. If you would like, try looking at the weather forecast to see if there are any possible storms. That way, you know if it is going to be choppy weather or not.

Start taking ginger tablets now and all throughout your cruise and you won't have any problems...I also buy crystallized ginger (kinda like dried fruit) and ginger tea to start taking about 2 weeks before I go. I never had a problem with seasickness and we were on the tail end of a hurricane(really high swells).
