Default Galveston - Suggestions please - SHRIMP

I will be on the Carnival cruise on 10/2/2006 and have been asked by the local fire department if shrimp will still be available in Galveston in October ?? If it is we may want to bring a bunch back for a fundraiser dinner for the fire department.

Any suggestions on the local markets or shrimp boats will be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Are you willing to venture away from Galveston?

There is a really good shrimp market in Kemah, which is about 30 minutes northeast of the island.

Seabrook Seafood
1419 Lawrence Road
Kemah, Texas 77565
(281) 334-2546
Contact: Tom Hults

Kemah also has a really cool little boardwalk with a hotel that would be relaxing to stay at.

Also, if you have a car or any kind of ride, you may consider taking the free ferry (pic below) over to Bolivar Peninsula and Crystal Beach, Texas.

J.B.'s Seafood
1263 W. Canal
Crystal Beach, Texas 77650
(409) 684-6464
Contact: Jack or Cindy Blume

On the island, I recommend:

Fabian Shrimp
P.O. Box 2601
Galveston, Texas 77553
(409) 744-2476
Contact: Tom and Tanya Fabian

Sampson and Sons Seafoods
Pier 19 20th Wharf
Galveston, Texas 77550
(409) 763-9316
Contact: Milton Sampson

Texas Gulf Seafood
Pier 7
Galveston, Texas 77550
(409) 762-7822
Contact: Andy Huynh

Yes, I can venture out of Galveston.

I will be driving down from Iowa and have time if I need to to drive a little more.
