Default #6325 ?Tripoli?

My TA has informed me that the stop at Tripoli is still up in the air. She said that the VISA for Egypt will be done on the ship, but they don't know about Tripoli, they are still working on "diplomatic agreements".

Default Tripoli

Egypt visas will indeed be done onboard and if the ship goes to Tripoli your visas will be done onboard also.

I don't know if this is still the case, but if anyone on that cruise has an Israeli stamp in your passport, you won't be allowed into Libya. You will have to get a new passport. Last year person's with Israeli stamps had to apply for new passports because Libya was being a pain. The reason the stop is in the air is because allowing Americans into that country is at the whim of the Libyian government.

I've just received word from my T.A. that Tripoli is definitely off the cruise itinerary. Tunis is the replacement.

Default Libya-less

We were on a voyage last Nov that went "Libya-less". We received word a couple of days before departure, but about 1/2 of the people did not find out until they were on board ... lots of disgruntled passengers.

However, if they don't want us there, why be there?

I noticed that 6325 docks in both Athens and Tunis. If old ruins are the objective, there are probably not two more famous sites ... the Acropolis and Carthage.

Nothing needs to be said about the Acropolis ... the best of the best. Tour books pan Carthage, but we were quite surprised and not disappointed:

Default Planning

I had seen an itinerary for Tripoli that not only announced the
info re: Israeli passports & stamps in passports...but also stated
that no Americans were allowed to debark. It did make me wonder
why it had ever been scheduled. Do I recall correctly that it
was also scheduled-but-substituted on rssc's World Cruise '06?

Tunis is very interesting...and very enjoyable if you can get a
buffer between yourself and the 'sellers'.

We are also on 6325, and Tripoli was a major inducement. Our TA just forwarded 2 emails to us. The first stated that Tripoli was out, as they could not be sure of obtaining visas for American passengers. Tunis has been substituted. The second said, in essence, still going to Egypt, but they are watching the situation in the middle east with safety in mind. Interestingly, there was a recent article in the WSJ about people in the region who normally summer in Beirut trying to find substitute lodging in Cairo.

I just received word from my agent that the marketing department at Crystal met today and, as of now, Alexandria is a go. Of course, world events could cause changes in the next two months.
