Default Thrifty rates high for Hawaii ports

I was just checking on the car rental rates for our 1/1/07 cruise and Thrifty rates have gone up to double what the other agencies. Can they be sold out of cars already and have raised the prices?

I'm looking at booking with National now. Does anyone know if they shuttle from/to the ports? We are looking at renting in Hilo, Kahului, and Nawiliwili

Did you try booking through this website: http://www.discounthawaiicarrental.com/

We found that we got the best rates by using this site and their corporate code. It happened to be Thrifty for us at all the ports (except Kona where we did not rent). Worth a try!

I used that web site and got rates of from $28.00 and up depending on the size of the car. Will there be any problem picking up the car, with that corporate code?? Do they ask for any proof for anything??.

Absolutely not. I remember questioning that too, but the corporate rate is given to that website because of volume, apparently, and Thrifty did not question it in any way! I also joined Thrifty's Blue Chip program, free and done online so there was no paperwork needed when picking up our cars! It is also wise to keep checking back on the website every week or so before you sail to see if the rates drop even further. Mine did about three times! It is very easy to rebook and then cancel the old reservations to get the best price. Just keep a copy of the current paperwork to take with you.

I booked Hilo Hawaii, Kahului Maui, Kona Hawaii and Nawilliwili Kauai with National for our trip on POH this Oct 30 - Nov. 6.
They were the cheapest with my AARP discount. When I called them up I was assured by an operator in India that they all had shuttle service from and back to the ship. To make sure I called one on Kauai. You just have to make sure you get back in time before they close and the shuttle stops running back to the ship. I think for Kaui it was 8:00pm. Like I said, this is for our upcoming trip end of October for our honeymoon. You might want to check it out further from somebody who has actually used them.

We are going mid september.. and I also booked with Thrifty... that website that Lambs2 posted comes up if you google cheap cars hawaii... or someting like that..

We booked thirfty in Hilo, Kaui, and Oahu (post cruise), using the code from that website... I booked National in Maui used my Delta discount, and got the cheapest rate... I think it was $90 for two days for a convertible...

I just got back last week and I booked my mini-van throught the discount car web-site. I joined the Bluechip club and everything went quickly. My mini van cost about $300 for the week at Thrifty. This is half off their own Thrifty car rental prices. I took a shuttle at the airport and got the mini-van without a problem. All the paper work was done and waiting for me. On the last day, I drove the mini-van back to the rental place and they shuttled me back to the airport. Great experience, and saved a bundle using the discount web-site. Don't waste time worrying.
