Question Help please-Thrifty issue

Hello everyone-thanks for all the help so far.

After reading tips on these boards for car rentals, I first went to the Thrifty site and signed on to become a blue chip member. Then used discounthawaii site to get the discount on the rental by using the corporate code as recommended. I did indeed get a great rate so I reserved.

I just rcvd an email from Thrifty and this is what concerns me:

<<<In reviewing your membership, we find you do not have a Thrifty Corporate Account (CD) number in your profile. If your company has a Thrifty Corporate Account and your CD number was accidentally left off, please contact us to update your profile and start taking advantage of your corporate benefits on every Blue Chip rental.>>>

Anyone else rcv an email questioning the corp code used? Just wondering what I should do from here? Maybe I entered something wrong or I should just re-book without the corp code to avoid any problems at pick-up?

Appreciate any advice!

Wow, that is a new one! I used that code from the Discount Hawaii rental car site with no problem this past June. I was a bit concerned that if I used ANOTHER code (like SAMS or Costco) and I was not a member that I might get "caught" so I was careful and only used the Discount Hawaii Car Rental website to book cars. Here is the toll free number for Discount Hawaii Car Rental:

1-888-292-3307

Call them and tell them about the correspondence you received! Many of us here on the Board have used them to book rental cars in Hawaii with no problems at all.

I have two cars rented through them and joined the blue chip. I hope it goes through ok. I didn't get a note. How long after youmade your reservation did you get the note? The corp disount only gave me a couple dollars off what I could have gotten anyway.

lambs2: I tried the phone number and rcvd the machine. I'll keep trying and will leave a message if need be for them to call me back. Yes, I hadn't heard from anyone else on these boards that they had been questioned after booking. Maybe it's something new?? I would rather pay a few dollars more than have an issue at pick-up...

dmrick: I booked my reservation on August 29, and rcvd the email msg today (Sept 13). So about 2 weeks I guess. How long has it been since you booked?

Anyone else out there book and rcv an email like this? If so, how did you handle it?

Thanks everyone!

Emalemi:
Don't forget the 6 hour time difference between the east coast and

Hawaii. It is still very early there. I am sure that Discount Hawaii Car

Rental will want to make sure you are satified with their service or they

will go out of business soon. They sure get a lot of promotion here on the

Hawaii Cruise Critic Board. This is where I heard about them, too! Make

sure you let them know that. If you do not get satisfaction from them be

sure and come back here and let us all know what you find out!

I copied the following off the Hawaii Discount Car Rental website:

Call Thrifty Hawaii at 800-367-5238 - request rate code HT14004114.
You must request rate code HT14004114 to ensure you're getting the pre-negotiated discounted rate and the associated benefits, no young driver and no additional driver fees.

Perhaps you should just CALL the Thrifty number given and work this out with a supervisor. I really believe that the letter you received is somehow an error and it all can be worked out so you get the benefit of the corporate discount many of us have received this summer. I am sure it will turn out just GREAT for you, too!

YES..........I thought about the time difference after I called...keep forgetting about that :-) I will try later today and I'll be sure to post afterwards. I'm sure they will try and do whatever they can to help, so they continue to get loads of business from these boards!! Thank you lambs!

I got the following after I signed up for Blue Chip. Since the company I work for doesn't do Thrifty and I didn't want to set up some sort of "company" account on my own, I ignored it and went ahead and made all the reservations for our trip.

"In reviewing your membership, we find you do not have a Thrifty Corporate Account (CD) number in your profile. If your company has a Thrifty Corporate Account and your CD number was accidentally left off, please contact us to update your profile and start taking advantage of your corporate benefits on every Blue Chip rental.

What if your company does not have a Thrifty Corporate Account?
If your company is not enrolled in our Corporate Account Program, let us show you how we can save your company money. We offer great benefits to business travelers...including low guaranteed corporate rates."

Default Thrifty rental issue

I to received this email today also. But the way I'm looking at it is this: Thrifty is just looking at increasing their marketing by adding corporate accounts. I signed up for the Blue Chip card to expediate the checkin/checkout procedure and to get on their shuttle quick also cheaper parking at my home airport. (all benefits of membership)
I made my reservations thru Discount Hawaii Car Rental. So that is who my reservations are with. Hince, I receive their corporate discount. I did not make reservation thru Thrifty, I just have a Blue Chip membership. Kinda like if you had a hotel chain membership, ie: Hilton Honors, you don't have to make reservations thru Hilton if you find a cheaper rate somewhere else but I still get points when I stay there.
I'm not sweating this one, hope I'm correct, but I've decided I'll fight the dragon over there if it's ugly head should show itself. I have to many other things to do! LOL We leave Monday 9/18/06 POH If we have any problems, I'll post when we return.

Question

I was just about to contact Discount Hawaii but after reading the additional posts I'm confused on which way to go here...

I did book through discount hawaii and all my reservation confirmations show the corp. code of HT14004114.

I don't understand why I rcvd this email msg from Thrifty if this is on there...??

Should I call Discount Hawaii or Thrifty?

Or do nothing at all...

Thanks all!!

I agree - I don't think that this Email is any big deal. Thrifty's just trying to make its way onto more corporate accounts and they're trying to make sure that you're not going to miss out any other corporate deals that they might have. Your reservation is safe, from what I'm reading and I'm sure that they'll honor the rate you have.

I used discount Hawaii car rental last month and got a mini-van for a fantastic price from Thrifty. I did not join Blue Chip until after I got the reservation. I had no problems and did not even notice the corporate numbers. Each time I emailed Jerry or Ron, I always got a quick reply. Why not try emailing them with your problem.

When you completed the Blue Chip application for membership, there was a place to put your corporate number. Since you are booking cars using the HT14004114 corporate number and your profile states you don't have a corporate number, they might want the corporate number in your Blue Chip profile information. It probably doesn't make much difference but it's confusing Thrifty's computers because these things don't match.

At least this is how I'm interpreting it.

We booked cars a couple of weeks ago thru the discount web site. We were never questioned. In fact, I posted something on these boards about the corp rate and was told basically, don't worry about it. The discount was thru the Discount web site and their code is good for everyone.

Did you rent cars for more than one port?? Did you receive the same message for each car??. If so, why not try to cancel one of the cars and try rebooking it just doing what people have recomended?? Many people cancel and rebook to get a lower rate, it's no big deal.

Hmm..I actually booked through thrifty, but used the corp code sent to me through the Hawiaii site. I made my ressies a few days ago, and also joined Blue Chip. My savings was a big $2..so I hope I don't have a problem when I pick them up. So far, no note.

Hi all-

I have two (2) reservation numbers. Both using the corp code & blue chip member #

reserved for 2 days in Maui.
a compact 4-door (it says dodge neon or similar)
grand total $69.92. ($28 per day +)

Then I booked again for 1 day in Kauai.
compact again
grand total $34.13

pearlaz:

You might be right! I pulled up the email Thrifty sent and clicked on "update my profile". There was a block to fill in your corp code number and mine was blank. I just put in the discount hawaii code which is already listed on my reservation confirmation. Maybe now things will "match up" and all is well.

Anxious to hear back from phylok once she returns from her cruise. She plans on posting whether or not she was questioned at all.

I'm sure everything will be fine. The worse that can happen is we pay a few more dollars so why not! LOL!
