Default Transportation from London to Harwich

First Baltic Cruise coming up May 25. We are making our own travel plans.
Need the best way to get to and from the Port of Harwich from London and vice versa. We are flying in a day early, but leaving the same day the cruise ends. I know there is a train station adjacent to the port terminal that goes to Liverpool Street. We will, of course, be traveling with a large suitcase and carryon, so would like some insight as to others who have done this and what to expect.

Thanks
Patty

I would suggest asking this question on the Britain boards on this web site. Here is the link:

I used the train and it was very good - much better than the HAL transfer bus. Harwich has the train station and the dock - no shops, nothing for a tourist to see or do. Get off the train, give bag(s) to porter, walk a very short distance, get on the ship. Easy and inexpensive.

Welcome to CC, patty0802!

As has been said, there is a lot of information about this on the Britain and British Isles forums already. There should also be some information on this forum, because of the number of Baltics cruises that depart from Harwich. You just need to search each of these.

The station by the docks is called Harwich International. The best place to start for railway information is the National Rail website. There are now lots of trains direct from Liverpool Street to Harwich International. On some cruise ship days, the railway company runs an additional cruise ship train. Last year's information is still up on this page from the port's website. The train operating company itself was terrible about publicising this service, although it may have good reasons for not doing so.

Which airport are you flying from on the day that you disembark the ship? And what time is your flight?
