Default restaurants in LAX

We are flying from Edmonton to Tahiti through LAX. We have a 6 or 7 hour layover in LA before boarding our plane for Tahiti. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for lunch at the airport? Thanks for your help.

Thumbs up Absolutely yes

If you've got about 6 hours, and want to take your time, stay in LAX and have a once in a lifetime experience, then absolutely...

http://www.encounterlax.com/

Coolest place, designed by Disney's Imagineers (the inside), and in the structure that you see of LAX in every movie and TV show.
John Travolta had one of his major birthday parties here recently.

Chill out and you could spend 2 or 3 hours just hangin out and stretching out drinks and a meal here.

Of course you will have to leave your terminal and walk to the center of the airport, then check back in for your next flight for security...
But with 6 hours to spare, you have plenty of time.

Hope this helps, and wherever you end up, please write us a review when you get back!

PS Other than that, each terminal will have it's own share of general eating establishments that vary by airline.
Wolfgang Puck Cafes, Sports Pubs, to McDonalds.
But none of these would help you stretch out 6 hours.

Thumbs up Go for it!

Definitely the most fun and unique restaurant in all of the LAX area (even most locals don't realize this and miss out)...
Also, just random info, they had the Austin Powers film wrap parties here (will totally make sense, when you're there)...

Also, just great food!

I can personally recommend:
Mozzarella Caprese Fresh Buffalo Mozzarella Napoleon layered with California Tomatoes topped with a Crisp Basil Emerald Hay, Infused oil, Balsamic Gastrique and Parmesan Curls.
Toasted Vegetarian Dagwood Marinated Grilled Portabella Mushroom, Char Broiled Eggplant, with Oven roasted Red Bell Peppers and Baby Spinach
Wild Mushroom Ravioli Oven Roasted Wild Mushroom, in a Garlic Cream Sauce topped with Grilled Asparagus and Goat Cheese

All very super "fresh" and very LA high end cuisine...

Also if you are there during "Happy Hour", the eggrolls are great, and any of the "signature" martinis are great if you like that kind of thing...

PS And make sure that they shoot the lasers when you order a drink at the bar...
Only in LA folks, only in LA!

Bad news...
In the news today, the Encounter Restaurant at LAX has been closed...
Apparently, the 46 year old landmark is in need of major repairs and renovations and will be out of comission for about 6 months...

I guess, there's the Chili's in the American Airlines terminal!

If you are looking for lunch, I would recommend the Proud Bird. It is just off the end of the south set of runways, next door to long term lot B. So you could take the free shuttle bus to parking lot B. The bus will go right past the Proud Bird, turn left, continue along the parking lot for the Proud Bird, and turn left into lot B once it passes the Proud Bird.

The Proud Bird is an upscale restaurant that serves a buffet lunch. It also has a bar and serves drinks. It has a large set of windows that look north, where you can see the planes approaching the runway for landing. The Proud Bird has a lot of small older planes around it on display.

The Proud Bird is located at the corner of Aviation Blvd. and 111th Street.
