Unhappy It's going to rain!!!!

We leave for the Western Caribbean on the Magic this Saturday and the weather forecast is for rain in all of our ports 10% chance in Key West, and 60% chance in both Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Do the shore excursions still go out if it's raining? We're going to get wet anyway (snorkeling) so it won't matter to us. But, do the tours operate? Sill question, I know, but I was looking forward to sunshine and rum for a week. Now it will just be rum

My understanding is that it's quite normal for the Carribean this time of year to receive some rain almost every day. Also, remember that 60% chance of rain doesn't mean that it's going to rain for 60% of the day.

I'd say go for it and don't worry (to much). You might get a little rain, and then again you might not get any rain.

Remember also, a 60% chance of rain means a 40% chance that you won't get a drop!

It's always best not to look at the forecast for the Caribbean because rain is almost always in the forecast. Generally when it rains it's a passing rain so you should be fine. When we vacationed in the Virgin Islands this summer it rained almost every day, either very early in the morning or late in the afternoon but it generally never lasted for more than 15-20 minutes.

Thanks for the glass is half full replies We've traveled to lots of tropical places and usually it rains ten minutes, then you're done. When we go to Puerto Vallarta the lightening shows at night are awesome! I know I shouldn't be looking at the weather reports, but I am soooo ready to go I can't help myself.

Also keep in mind that it is an area forecast for the region that is being covered by the prediction. That means if you look at a map and draw a square around the central town, for example Cozumel and the square is 50 miles 50 miles which would equate to 2500 square miles so a 60% rain chance for that square would mean that 1500 square mile should receive rain, but 1000 square miles won't. You just need to be in the correct square mile.

Just go and have a great time and don't worry about it! One of my best memorys of my DH and two sons was in the rain! We spent the day at
Epcot, IT POURED...lol..but we had more fun running around with
our rain gear then you can imagine!! Sometimes its the moments like
this that you remember..I just reminded one of my sons..he said and I
quote "we had so much fun, remember we were racing to each ride
with you and Dad"!!!

Shore excursions will still operate rain or shine. (There may be rare exceptions, but they would truly be rare.) The rains do tend to sweep in and sweep out. You'll do just fine.

Well, we're back home, and it did rain in each port but for Key West! The good news was that in Cayman it rained just as we got off the tender for about 45 seconds, then gorgeous weather the rest of the day. Stingray City tour was cancelled due to rough seas though, so we went to seven mile beach. Just beautiful. Cozumel it sprinkled as we were heading back on the ship and Castaway had a sprinkle as we went ashore in the morning. So it rained for a sum total of about 1.5 minutes. Not too shabby

We had a wonderful time and are booked on our second Disney Cruise for next year!!!
