Default New to Seadream

Thanks to all for the helpful information on this board, I have been reading for a while but this is my first time posting. As a little background, I cruised on Radisson (now Regent) a couple years ago and loved it, and also have cruised on bigger lines (i.e. Royal Caribbean) as a teenager with my family and while that was a good experience then, would hate to go back to the larger lines now. My husband and I are thinking about booking a Seadream cruise from Venice to Athens for next summer, and just have a couple of questions. First, we are both young (late 20's) and one concern is whether we will feel out of place on this cruise. We are used to being on the younger side when we travel as we like to stay in nice places, and are not into nightlife, but wondering whether this cruise is a good or bad match given our age. Second, my husband is prone to seasickness. He has never been on a cruise ship, only small boats (i.e. sailboats, snorkel catamarans, whale watching, etc.), and is worried about how he will handle a cruise. Especially given the smaller size of the Seadream boats, is this something to worry about in the Med in July or August? Thanks in advance for any advice.

SeaDream seems like a perfect fit for you given your specifics. Age-wise, you will be among the youngest - but age seems to not matter as much on SeaDream - it's more about mindset and experience.

As far as getting seasick - I don't believe he will have any trouble. The itinerary you are looking at is fairly protected - and you are not going vast distances between ports - so I believe you will only move at night. I have found the yachts to be very stable and comfortable - and I have been in some rough seas going around the west end of Sicily. I think he will be just fine and you will love SeaDream.

I agree with Surfklutz, you will be in the youngest age. Most are 40's and up. With that in mind, all we have met aboard seem to have a younger outlook and spirit than their chronological ages. Maybe goes along with not wanting to be on a huge ship with rock climbing walls, etc. If you enjoy meeting and conversing with interesting people from all over the world and if you enjoy the best personal service along with great food and atmosphere, you will like this. No one will treat you as an outcast because you are young. Bring an unruly kid with you and this could change.
I also agree that the SD twins have a very good ride in a seaway. Better in my opinion than some much larger ships I have sailed on. In a truly rough sea, all ships move too much for most peoples comfort but SD Captains are very good at making changes so as to minimize discomfort. We are in the Med this October and will post a review. Hoping for smooth seas and sunny skies. Will make do with lesser conditions as long as the Top of The Yacht is open.
All the best,
Jim.
