I need MORE advice regarding the use of the waterbus passes.
On the www.actv.it, it seems there are 2 types of passes i.e. 1) 1-Day pass for 24hrs (water AND land buses) for EUR10,50 2) 1-Day pass (until midnight on the day first stamped) valid only on the waterbus for EUR6 My question(s): - Would I need to use land buses at any time while going around in Venice? I haven't seen anyone mention anything about the landbuses. - Type 2 pass as outlined above: Is that valid for 1 or unlimited rides? There are just too many options HELP! .................can't do without this forum. Thanks to all you helpful folks out there

We have been to Venice a number of times and we are returning in a few weeks time. We have never used a land bus there. We do use the Vaparetos and our legs. It is a great walking city and you can get from A to B by walking. The only time we use the Vaparetos is when we go out to one of the islands eg. Burano, Tucello, Murano or to the Lido.
We usually get lost a few times, but that is the fun of Venice. Have a good map with you and you will be fine. I would just buy the one day pass for the waterbus. Jennie

The Ticket you need is the One Day travel Card which costs 10.50 E which gives you unlimited travel on the Water Buses for 24 hours from when first stamped. The 6 E ticket is just a day return ticket which saves you 1 E on a return journey as the single fare is 3.50 E. Venice has an integrated transport system so if required you could use your travel card on certain land buses, but the chances are that you'll never see a land bus.

As well as using the Vaparettos for basic transportation, we saw many people who brought illustrated guide books aboard to tour the Grand Canal by Vaporetto. It goes at a nice pace to read it and look around at the same time.
We also took a ride at night on one that had an open area in front as well as in the very back and while it wasn't as romanitic as a gondola -- it was pretty darned romantic anyway. And we'll never forget when we watched (and video'd) a police and fireboat race by on the canal from the vaparetto...glad we weren't in a gondola then! Have a wonderful trip -- I'm ready to go back anytime. PS. Mike and Jennie and right on with their advice
