I'm thinking about flying down a day early for our cruise on JOS in January. I would like to bid on a hotel on Priceline, and I woud like to know the best was to try to get a room at the Marriott Marina or Embassy Suites. How close are these hotels to the port and is there free shuttle service? Also, are these 2 considered Downtown hotels and NOT Airport hotels? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a first time user and I want to do it right since there's no going back once we book the room.
Also, I need 3 rooms, 2 for our friends. Can I book 3 rooms in my name or will Priceline have a form where I can put the correct names in? Thanks in advance for your help!! |

I tried priceline for the first time last year for my precruise night in Ft. Lauderdale and won the Marriott Hotel and Marina. I bid 3* downtown and won that. The Embassy Suites, as I hear it, its tough to get a room there in the winter as the cruise lines are using this hotel for their passengers and is pretty much booked up.
Just be aware, if your bid is accepted with priceline, you do not have a choice in hotels, you are stuck with what you get, basically, you cannot change, cancel or put your room in anyone else's name and your charge card is charged immediately. Its a gamble, yes, but what you save in $$ is worth it. The Marriott had a free shuttle from the hotel to the pier, but NOT from the airport to the hotel. But please don't worry, everything is so close in Ft. Lauderdale, a taxi cab is never more than $10 - $15. When you go into priceline and choose hotels, it will ask you how many rooms you want to bid for, you can bid for upto 4 rooms for the same hotel, so your friends you can put the reservation in their name when it asks you for it. Before you bid, you should read these two web sites, they are a wealth of information: www.biddingfortravel.com and www.biddingforfun.com both great sites. And you can always ask questions here of some wonderfully helpful people. Hope this helped. |
