Default Four ships in port in NYC! Also, NJ hotel?

Hi all! Since the search function is acting wonky, I thought I would just post!

We're leaving Sept 14th for our honeymoon cruise on the Miracle. From what I've seen on the port schedule, there are 4 ships all together leaving that day!!

How bad is traffic going to be? We are going to try to get there early, about 11 (we leave at 4). Will there be parking available?

We're thinking about staying across the way in Secaucus, NJ the night before...it doesn't look TOO far from port, but I've heard about the traffic! Think it will be a-ok?

Thanks so much for any help!!!

One of the ships, Caribbean Princess, will be in Brooklyn so that will make it slightly better.

it isn't that far BUT getting to the pier can be expensve as cabs do not have to take you there.....you'd be better with a car service (taxis from nj can't pick up a fare in NY back into MJ so they can charge you A LOT!)

i think you can try www.dial7.com for a car.

honestly, it's your honeymoon...how's about splurging and staying in NYC?? just a thought.

Secaucus is a straight shot through the Lincoln tunnel, which only leaves you about 15 blocks south of the NYC cruise port. If you leave about 10:30AM, you should be at the port by 11:00-11:15AM.

I think the OP has a car. They asked about parking.

Yep! I have a car!

We were thinking of staying in NY, but at $300 a night for a decent hotel, we can get one for half that in NJ...and that will pretty much pay for the parking at the pier! I know it's our honeymoon, but we're not going to get to the hotel anyways until 10 or 11 at night (due to reception and drive), so that's why I was thinking decent price, nice hotel!

That's good to know one of those four is in Brooklyn, whew!

IF you bid Priceline, 3*, Meadowlands/Rutherford, you can usually get the Sheraton or the Renaissance for $100.00 or less. May save you a few dollars.
