Default Inspiration Propulsion Problems?

Anyone hear about the status of the Inspiration? The announcement said that there was a propulsion problem. We skipped Grand Cayman and went right to Cozumel. Got there at 1:30 pm and left at midnight. We are now heading back to Tampa. She is still only doing between 10 and 11 knots.

That could be partially right. The ship came to a complete stop while still in Tampa Bay, for no more than 2 hours.

We got a letter from the captain that said our change was due to a "technical problem with the ship's propulsion system."

Also says technicians would meet the ship in Cozumel, but have not heard anything since the letter.

I hope this doesn't stop the April 3rd Inspiration cruise from happening, I'm on that one.

I just looked under the "news" section on Carnival's website and there is no information on a possible propulsion problem; I sail on the 17th so if there is a problem let's hope that they rectify it quickly.

Usually the worst case is if they can't get it fixed your itinerary will be changed to fit within the new "cruising" speed.

JUST KIDDING......couldn't help myself, jusy trying to lighten the mood a but.....

would be funny though wouldn't it to see a huge rooster tail coming from behind a cruise ship.....

As one leaving on Monday, I would say no news is good news.

Default sorry for the delay

I don't see any rooster tails but I checked with the pursers desk and they siad that the propulsion system is working fine.
I asked what the problem was - they said that they were not told.
We are on the slow boat (9 - 10 kts) to Tampa and are supposed to dock at 6am on the 3rd.

OK, you are ON the ship. On it. I mean physically ON THE SHIP. You should have WAY more news that any of us stuck on land.

Yup - we are ON the Inspiration. And you would think they would tell us what was going on.
They told us on the second day that there was a problem. Never heard if it was fixed until I asked. I assume we have been going slow just to kill time.

My sister and her family are on the Inspiration right now too. She just called me a little while ago and said the ship is basically sailing in circles right now so they don't get back to Tampa too soon.

Default slow but steady

As of right this minute the ship has one engine at 100% and one at 50% it appears we are going slow to make sure we don't get back too soon. Don't think we are sailing in circles. Due to arrive at Tampa at 6-630 am Thursday and see no change in next cruise. The problem has to due with a seal leakage and shorting out the propulsion system (electric)
Everything else on board is just as it should be.

happy sailing

No offense, guys, but while I'm on the ship, the absolute LAST place I'm going to be is on this board. I love you guys to death and your information is more helpful than you know, but come on. You're supposed to be on this site to pass the times IN BETWEEN cruises, not while ON one.

Although, I guess it's a bit hypocritical of me to say that and then to thank surprisecruiser for the info, what with him/her being on board and all.

We just got off the Inspiration on 4/26 and there were still propulsion problems that caused our 5 day itinerary to be adjusted. We still made the two ports, but the times were different. Goeorgetown GC was a shorter stop and we arrived in Cozumet at 10:30 and left at 8:45. We were back in Tampa on time. Highest speed I saw was less than 18 knots.

Yes, the ship is still experiencing propulsion problems! My son and his girlfriend are aboard the ship right now. They were told before sailing that the port calls would be shortened by an hour or so, but the sailing went on as scheduled. They are currently in Cozumel and due to set sail at 9pm.
