Default Merida's Zoo

Does anyone know much about this zoo and has anyone done this from the cruise terminal? We have 2 small children and are looking for something different from the typical beach thing. Is this worth while to do? Do I just get a cab at the dock and how long would it take to get there. I think the cultural experience would be a nice change, but I know zero Spanish. Once there would I be able to get a taxi back to the dock easily? We are there this Wed. from 7am till 4pm. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Cool

My friend took her grand-daughter to the zoo while vacationing in Merida. She said it was small, but pretty and the little girl really enjoyed it. In fact made friends with some of the local children. Merida is a great and interesting city and very safe.

Don't know about the zoo, but the taxi ride is about 20 minutes I'd estimate. Merida is a very beautiful city!

It would take about 30-45 minutes to get to the zoo by taxi. Read more here about things to do in Merida with children: http://www.yucatantoday.com/destinat...g-children.htm
