Default Sharks?

I am wondering if there are a lot of shark sightings in Barbados. DH and I would love to view some. We would want to be safe, but would not mind snorkeling in an area where sharks are present (we are adventurous types).

Any ideas?

Have only seen sharks on shore, especially at the resort properties on the west coast.

Never in the water.

I think you'll be OK as long as you just say 'no' and keep walking...

Default ZERO chance on intentional shark sightings, at Barbados

Yes, walk towards the entrance Gatehouse to the Bridgetown Port, after you've left the cruise terminal bldg.
You'll see them standing there.
They're the inside taxi-drivers, a mercenary avaricious lot.

The guys outside the Gatehouse are considerably more human
- no cold glint in their eyes

Sharks? In Barbados' clear clean waters?
Forget it. You haven't the slightest chance

Sharks like mucky waters of the Continental Shelf,
where their food supply is far more abundant
than the clean clear oceanic waters surrounding Barbados

..................................
Your best bet (and it ain't much) would be to get out behind the barrier reef and sea rocks
at BATH over of the East Coast
but that's kinda dangerous, and you'd better be very water-worthy hard-assed diving types to do that.

I woulda done in when I was younger, but now I'm older and wiser

I love a good shark sighting while snorkeling or diving. Didn't see any in Barbados, but there is a beach there where they feed the turtles and you can snorkel with them.

Do you know the name of the beach? We would be interested in visiting it!

You can e-mail the TIAMI catamaran people and ask. Not sure why it won't let me include the link. You can find it by going to yahoo or google and entering TIAMI and Barbados as your search words.

Paynes Bay

Get taxi to Paynes they drop you at blue monkey beach rest. turtles
30 yards off beach, local glass bottom boat will take you out and then onto sunken wreck site hhalf price of ship trips.

Go early before all boat trips from cruise ships arrive it's a nice beach as well

Aplmac, you are a wealth of knowledge, Thanks!!!
Where does Paynes Bay sit on the island?? It is not on my map. Is it near Speightstown??
How far is it from the piers??
Where would you suggest to get a good reasonably priced snack ,or lunch??
Thanks Again!!!

Default Question for Aplmac

If we want to swim with the turtles in the AM and go to Malibu Rum and Beach in the afternoon, where is the best place to get someone to take us to the turtles. We don't want to do a long snorkle trip.
