"Stowaway Freddy's" Holiday (The Littlle Ship that Could) Pictoral Review 3/23 - 3/28

Hello everyone, my name is Freddy Flamingo and my friend Smoofdaddy is allowing me to post my review of my first cruise. Since I technically was not a paying guest, you can refer to me as "Stowaway Freddy" from now on.

For my first cruise my friends took me on the Holiday. It is the oldest ship in the fleet and it has its positives and negatives, but I had a blast. It was a predominately spring break cruise, so as the say..."When in Rome....." well, you get the idea or you will with the pictures that I'll be posting.

So, now that my intro is out of the way....I'll get to the review. Stay tuned as it will take some time with all the pictures that I'll be posting.

Now that the intro is over, its time to start the review. I'm packed and ready, anxious to leave!!



After one last thing to check on Cruise Critic about one of our excursions.....

We when we arrived in Mobile, we stayed ay the Best Western Battleship Parkway. It was a nice hotel, with a very friendly staff. Sorry I don’t have any pictures of the hotel since my batteries died and I forgot to pack extras. The rate was $159.00 and that included parking for 5 days.

There is a restaurant on site that was delicious, and the best thing is that they also provide full menu room service. This was great since we drove all day and were just not in the mood to go out and eat.

The shuttle service from the hotel was extremely fast. Since we were about a mile from the port we were unpacking the van at port less than five minutes after leaving the hotel.

As I stated before since I was a "Stowaway" I had to be incognito....



This was my friend’s first cruise as platinum members and they loved the VIP embarkation. We arrived at 11:00 and were in lounge chairs at the aft of the ship by 11:30. The bar didn’t open till noon, so we just chilled and relaxed in the sun.

I got sidetracked....thanks Jessemon! It's still day one of our cruise and I decided to hit the casino after we hit International waters....



The Wheel of Fortune was not so fortunate for me and neither were the tables...No pics there since cameras are a no no!!

Out of respect for our dinner companions, I decided to leave the camera in the room. I tried the shrimp cocktail.......they are much better cooked than eaten raw in a wetland swamp and the broiled snapper (also much better cooked I might add!)

After dinner it was back to the casino....uggh!!! Realizing that my luck was virtually non existent in the casino that night I decided to head over to the Bus Stop Bar and listen to Trevor. That guy is a great musician, and he plays a wide variety of music for all age groups.



After Trevor’s set ended, I thought I hit the piano bar to end the night.



The piano player, Michael Smith rocks! Funny guy with great stories and great music! There will be more piano bar pictures to follow.

Well after having a few too many we all decided to call it a night and head back to the room. Funny thing was that although I knew I had had a few, the ship was leaning considerably. The list was at least 20 degrees and it would basically be this way every night the rest of the cruise. Did it bother us, no, but it was funny seeing everyone walking up hill and trying not to stumble. Honestly those that had had a couple of adult beverages handled it quite well!

Well I woke up bright and early on the first sea day anxious to head out to the pool and possibly take on the water slide....



Although still a little woozy from last night and nervous about my first water slide ride, I needed a "Hair of the Dog".......



After several "beverages" I knew it was time....the slide called me. My fear cast aside and with the help of a new little friend, I made the climb.



After finally reaching the top, it was my time to go.....it was a blast!



My fear was cast aside and I was running on adrenaline. All the sudden I was almost strangled to death by the same little kid that I thought was my friend....What gives man!!!!




As it is getting late I will continue my review later....
