Default Cabins to avoid - royal caribbean

There is already a great thread going on cabins to avoid. It's getting long so I thought I'd start one for Royal Caribbean. Here's a link to one that is active on the main RCI thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showt...1#post19077375
We had booked #9620 on 3 cruises for 2010 as we had a bumpy ride on a corner aft on the Jewel and decided to switch to midship. On the above thread, someone said "don't book under the Royal Suite" on Voyager class ships. While I knew the Royal Suite had a piano, the noise factor would not have occurred to me. Anyway, I called and, to our surprise, #9320 was available on all 3 bookings. LIfe is good!

Thanks for posting this over here. I added my two cents on the original thread. After one bad experience being under the pool area, DH and I book a cabin (usually a JS) which has passenger decks above and below.

I added pics of the Cafe Promenade sign in front of PR cabin 6263 on the cabins to avoid last night. We were on Voyager. The sign sticks out and up and blocks the walkway and you cant look directly down because of the sticking out. It wasnt awful, but Id have been upset if we paid full PR price for it. We got it as a inside guarantee.

Default Help me please cabin questions!!

Hi, I am booked on the Indepence Of the Seas March 2010 and I'm now really worried about our choice of cabin. We booked (GS) #1268 and I'm worried about #1 being the hot tub over hang is it right over our room?? and #2 about all the noise being under the Solarium.

We really need to be in a Grand Suite as we need the room. So if anyone has stayed in this room or right near it could give me some answers that would be great. There are some other rooms still available but near the general area.

So Please anyone, I would like to able to sleep and enjoy my balcony without having a big over hang above us.

Thanks Heather

We also booked an inside guarantee on Liberty of the Seas and are assigned 6227. Has anyone ever had that cabin? We are concerned about the noise.

Default Where's original thread

Can anyone tell me where the original thread for Cabins to Avoid Best and Worst can be found. I had it saved in my Favorites; but now it won't bring it up. Thanks.

We always book on the deck under the pool--and have never had a noise issue. They're very convenient if you spend a good deal of your day at the pool!
It doesn't look like the hot tub is over your GS 1268---and ALL balconies are shaded by the deck above....

Default Radiance Cabin 7056

Our room was 7056 and BF's parents were in 7054. There's a door that was below us that was constantly being slammed shut making it difficult to sleep. BF's parents could hear it too but not as bad since the door was directly below us. We had to call Guest Relations 4 nights in a row and the 5th day we went to talk to the manager at Guest Relations since he left us a voicemail.

At first we were told it was a door to a pantry. When we talk to the Guest Relations manager, he determined it was a door used by the casino manager. He told us that he advised the casino manager not to slam the door but obviously his orders weren't followed. I told him to put a sign on the door as a reminder but he argued with me that telling the casino manager was sufficient. He compensated us with a 15% discount on a future cruise to be used within a year which I feel now isn't adequate but at that time I thought the problem was resolved. The door was sometimes closed carefully but most of the time it wasn't and this would happen well into the night around 2AM until the casino emptied I supposed. Only 2 nights it was quiet enough for me to sleep after midnight. We gave up with calling the Guest Relations manager because it would just aggravate us then we really wouldn't be able to sleep. He said he didn't work at that hour and would have to get up and go to the casino manager to tell him to stop. On those previous nights, he would then call us back and then we were wide awake and angry.

There was no way by looking at the deck plans that there would be doors below us. We thought it would be safe since it just looked like a hallway between the casino and sports bar. The ship was booked full so we were not able to change rooms.

Please note that while this was irritating, it did not ruin my cruise but my BF isn't sure he'd want to sail with RC again. Luckily we were able to take naps in the afternoon during port days when the casino wasn't opened.

Default I'm lost - Pls help which cabin to choose

Hello fellow cruisers, I'm new onboard and I have a dilemma. Is cabin #2640 on RCI Adventure of the Seas a good choice? It's on Deck 2, Ocean View and near the aft? Above is Vivaldi Dining Room and below, engines??? I've read that being seasick prone, having a lowest deck is ideal but how about the noise level above and below? Or I should go for #6373 Inside Cabin. I'm given very limited choice as these are under the special senior rates. I'm so lost now and I need to book soon ... its for a 7 Nights Southern Caribbean on Mar 28 2010. Greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Default spring break on the Majesty

We are first time cruisers and we are going on the Majesty of the Seas, Deck 4, room 4588. My husband and I are going with our two "adult" kids, ages 20 and 26. I had heard that the 20 year old might be able to have a drink on board, is that correct? Also, is it okay to bring our own bottled water and canned sodas?

Wondering if anybody knows if the 9th deck at the FRONT of the ship is going to have a lot motion because it is at the front of the ship? We will be on Adventure of the Seas. Not worried about the noise.

We are going transatlantic in May and since we have always had lower decks and mid ship rooms in the past, I am nervous about this front of the ship deal for motion sickness.

thanks

Default Adventure of the Seas Cabin 2278

For the first time we took a guarantee outside room where RC picked our room for us. We were assigned room 2278 at the very end of the hall. Turns out it was right outside Studio B and there were parties going on until 2 a.m. and every time the staff opened the doors to take things in and out it was as if the music was being played directly in our room. Then they needed to clean up afterward so there was banging going on until 3 a.m. The first night we complained to our room steward and she said “it was probably the waves you heard”. WHAT? At midnight the next night, hubby went out and found staff coming out of the studio and he asked how much longer this was going on. The staffer with a huge smile said “Not much longer. The private party is only booked until 2:00 a.m.”!!!!! We ended up borrowing earplugs that had already been used (my sister YUCK) and borrowing a sound machine that we turned up to the loudest volume possible to get a little bit of sleep.

After 3 nights in a row (of a 5 night cruise) of complaining we were told we would be given a credit for 15% off on our next cruise. Not great but ok it’s something. Then we got the letter and it states “We are eager to restore your goodwill and hope you will accept a discount offer valid towards a future cruise with Royal Caribbean International. The discount value will be 15% of the cruise fare paid for this sailing. The offer is per person and valid for the price of the cruise only for a stateroom comparable to yours on this sailing”. As if we would EVER get that quality again! This was our 6th cruise on RC and we are VERY unhappy with the whole way they handled our complaint. We will NOT ever sail on Adventure of the Seas again.

Default promenade room Royal Carribean

We are going to book on Yoyager of the Seas for a December cruise soon.
Has anyone ever stayed in a promenade room? It has a small window that overlooks the promenade. I am wondering if the room would be loud. It might be better than an interior with no windows.

Voyager class interior cabin 7383

My daughters stayed in this cabin on Mariner, and were awakened throughout the night by the sound of carts banging. There must be a storage area behind this cabin that's not visible on the deck planes.

We had a promenade room on royal caribbean and noise was not a problem. It was nice having a window and you could watch the action from your cabin. The only downside was that the promenade room directly across from you could see in your room if the drapes were not drawn. We enjoyed the promenade room and would book one over an inside anyday. Hope that helps.
