Anyone visited had family/friends visit recently after the major crackdown?
Trying to decide if I should commmit to a Bangkok visit in the summer.

Thailand at it's worst is still safer and calmer than New York or LA at their best.

But if it is about riot, airport being shut down for weeks, not necessarily, NO? Anyone can give me an objective on the ground report?

Returned from Thailand last Saturday. We were in Bangkok during the protests. We stayed away from the main trouble spots (which were away from the tourist areas) and had no problems. Other than heavier than usual traffic there were no obvious signs of difficulty - the airport functioned as normal. Down in Phuket there were no signs of trouble at all.
My advice - go and enjoy yourself. |
