Things to do in Progresso?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of things to do in Progresso outside of the excurisons? (I will be a first time cruiser in September 2009)

I was looking to get a beach massage, anyone know anything about that?

Thanks for any and all suggestions. :)

Keep reading this board and also checkout http://www.yucatantoday.com You'll need to scroll down. There are more options for this port than most. Major and moderate Mayan ruins from the sixth century, Merida a large Spanish colonial city, a nice all-inclusive to book on the pier, the long wide beach in Progreso with excellent restaurants accross the beachside street. Research is the key.

I strongly recommend visiting Uxmal and Merida. Both can be done on the same tour. Hire a guide ahead of time. I was very pleased with this excursion. In fact, we liked Uxmal better than Chichen Itza. The downtown market in Merida has some great bargains.
