Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Can anyone describe the luggage pickup situation when a ship is arriving in NYC? Assuming I get priority (yellow) luggage tags and that things go smoothly, should the luggage be waiting for me if I am first-off? I am going to be rushing to catch a car. Debark is slated for 10 and we need to be in a car by 11:15. (It’s booked for 11 to be safe) I know much CCers are big proponents of luggage walkoff, But, in my past experience at other ports, luggage unloading has always gone smoothly and I found it much easier to get down the stairs and to the debark line when I’m unencumbered. I do NOT travel lightly and my suitcase is often in the 40 pound range, so carrying it down the stairs is a risky option. I’ve always found elevator walk off with luggage to take very long because of all the stops and crowding, I would much rather leave my bag for unloading overnight, if ppl here think it would be unloaded on time. also, I have AirTags, so I should be able to find my suitcase very quickly in the pile. WDY think? I’ve never been to the manhattan port so I’m going entirely on the experience I hear from others
  2. Sorry, I meant 1:10 PM originally with a standby flight at noon if I was early. I would have probably NOT made the 1:10 PM with a 10 AM debark
  3. Ok! You scared me LOL. don’t scare me like that again
  4. No— I think you’re misunderstanding. Now that Prima’s official arrival time is 10 AM, I had to change my EWR outbound home because I would not have made it on time for a noon flight. please let me know if there’s something I’m not understanding here. I have 24 hours to cancel my flight and rebook, if I’ve got that wrong.
  5. I was booked for noon EWR. now the ship arrives at 10 (instead of 7) and I had to book a 4 PM.
  6. Does anyone know how strict NCL is with claims. I booked on points and will now have to pay cash for my new flight instead. My travel companion will take a hit because she has to change airlines entirely. I’m usually good at filing admin papers for sh33t like dis, but I’m not sure how this will work because insurance doesn’t apply to flights booked on points. do I basically just say to Norwegian: “the new flights resulted in a price difference of X”, and send some semblance of paperwork, and they’ll pay it out?
  7. Another late arrival and itinerary change by NCL on the upcoming April 27 repo. They are offering $300, but My travel insurance doesn’t cover things like this, so I don’t know how much I’ll get back from them. “As part of our commitment to deliver exceptional vacation experiences at every step of the cruise journey, listening to our guests is instrumental. Given recent guest feedback, and to accommodate certain circumstances including but not limited to global maritime regulations, as well as whale zone speed restrictions enroute from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic to New York City, New York, we will now disembark in New York City on April 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. We apologize for any inconvenience this adjustment may cause.” All guests with independent flights are encouraged to contact their airline provider and reschedule their flights. Please note, flights should be scheduled to depart five hours after the ship's arrival time. We recommend that all guests work directly with their travel insurance provider, and airline carrier if applicable, for reimbursement options related to any expenses incurred. Should any airline-imposed change/cancelation fees not be covered by your insurance provider or the airline, we will reimburse up to $300 USD per person. Please submit your receipts including documentation of denied claim for review at www.ncl.com/case-submission.
  8. I really appreciate this info. I will check the small venues and restaurants on Prima when I board. I would want to leave it somewhere tagged and secured.
  9. I seem to remember someone mentioning that there’s a bag check on boarding day for carry on bags while rooms are being readied. I’m going on the prima. Is there one, where? Thx
  10. What was it like having your son on board just turning drinking age plus 5 friends? Did you see him atall during the cruise or was he out getting ripped at the nightclub? If I was a parent, this kind of cruise would be a nightmare for me…my kid just turning drinking age with unlimited drinks plus 5 drinking age friends? Lawd have moicey, I wouldn’t be able to sleep.
  11. Not sure bout all y’all, but I think a mere ten percent off offer for this inconvenience is a sort of b00lsh33t. They really should be offering lift and shifts for these PLUS allowing ppl to send in claims for credit or refunds for price differences in regards to flights and hotels connected with their cruise, if ppl can prove the bookings were made before the cancellations happened.
  12. When will cruise lines stop the silly “deposit” and payment system. This is so antiquated. Ppl should just be paying full price at the time of booking with option to get a full refund up to X amount of days before the cruise. The cruise “deposit” system is from a time before ppl just paid everything with credit cards and nowadays, new cruisers don’t even understand it on the other hand, credit for price drops is also silly. What other areas of the travel industry work like that. If everyone starts monitoring cruise prices and asking for FCC after price drops, that will blow it for everyone. that being said, I won’t deny hypocrisy in that I just tried requesting an adjustment for a $1000 price drop the day after I paid and I’ve never done it before. My agent said NCL is filing a claim with their “price drop department” and I will know whether or not it was approved after my cruise. does anyone know how much they offer for these adjustments or is it just a flat rate per person or X percent off usually? $1000 could literally cover the cost of a whole cruise sometimes
  13. Thanks…and hello. Can’t remember if we met on an NCL cruise or if I just recognize your name from here surprised to hear that schools are out by Memorial Day… that’s pretty early. I’m up in Canada
