  1. I would take the time to write an old fashioned letter to John Padgett. The way I see it this terrible episode was caused by Princess' unacceptable customer service, customer service personnel that don't fully understand the English language, customer service personnel that have limited English speaking knowledge, customer service personnel that are housed in noisy offices. Mr. Padgett needs to hear this from someone directly involved with this negative experience. E-mails, text, phone calls will not get the message through. You might even wind up with some future cruise credits. I had a simple change of address. I was not able to change it on line myself. The program would not allow it. Crazy for such a common thing. I kept getting the message contact Princess. I emailed them a number of times. It went on for months. I finally wrote a postal letter to John Padgett. A few weeks later I received a response and the address was changed.
  2. Plus fare. You never see a charge in your on board folio. Up to 15 alcoholic beverages/day that have a menu price of $15 or less. around80 to 90% of all drinks on board, are covered by the plus fare package. You can see the costs on the menus. Some better wines are over $15. In specialty & casual dining venues they show a partial list of wines and such that are available under the plus fare as well as under the premier fare. I also saw this on some bar menus. If your drink is over $15 then you are charged the difference + 18%. If you order an $18 drink your folio will be charged $3.54. If you exceed 15 alcoholic beverages in a day, 6am to 6am, you will be charged the full cost of the drink + 18%. You never see any charges for non alcoholic beverages. They are unlimited. On my cruise this past March I never received fountain sodas. Only canned sodas were provided. They were covered by the plus package. No charge. I boarded in Ft. Lauderdale and I had a drink very shortly after I boarded. No local tax was charged. I think it's the same at most of the ports. I have read that when you board in Galveston there are limited drinks available while you are in Texas waters and they are charged. You then receive some OBC.
  3. Fire Door. Notice that B535 is adjacent to cabin B601. 500 series cabins are in a different fire zone from 600 cabins. You will notice that from forward to aft the cabin series go from 100's to 700's. These are the different fire zones as well as different zones for other purposes.
  4. yes. Just mention you wish to share a table.
  5. B535 has a 3rd berth that lowers from the ceiling. It is the 4th berth that requires a roll-away
  6. When you are within the 330 day booking limit go into EZ Air. Find the flights and dates you want. Based on my experience you can book early like you wish.
  7. I prefer the Grand Class ships over the Royal Class. I was on a b2b on the Ruby in March and as expected enjoyed it. I know nothing about the new Sun except that it isn't sailing the longer itineraries I enjoy, and it appears to have too many passengers for the amount of public space.
  8. Don't worry about it. It is a short process to pick up your medallion at the pier. In Ft. Lauderdale it took under 5 minutes. I would expect it to be fairly quick at Vancouver also.
  9. No. Plus fare benefits are very different from full suite benefits. The most important basic three plus fare benefits are a)up to 15 alcoholic beverages per day menu priced $15 or less, and unlimited non alcoholic beverages b) crew appreciation which is $18/pp/day for a full suite and c) unlimited wifi. Other plus fare benefits such as the 2 casual dining meals, special desserts, some gym classes are also not part of the full suite benefits.
  10. No. Only excursions can be paid for with OBC before you board. For everything else you have to wait until you board, or pay when booked with a credit card.
  11. Lounge chairs in the sanctuary can be moved. There are plenty of lounge chairs on deck 16 around the Lido Pool, on deck 17 above the Lido pool and on deck 16 aft by the Wake View Pool that are in the sun. Very few people sit in the sun. Lounges in the shade are filled early morning. Lounges in the sun remain mostly empty. It's way too hot and way too dangerous with the very strong sun in the Caribbean. Make sure you have some sort of shoes. The decks get so hot you can't really walk on them without shoes.
  12. The Coral & Island were built as sister ships. When built each one had a casino on deck 6. At the entrance was a raised step up area with a bar and some slots. At some point in the late 2000's this area was converted on the Coral to a small International Cafe. There was no International Cafe conversion on the Island Princess.
  13. You can not do this. The only thing that you can use OBC for pre cruise are tours. If you want to use OBC to pay for spa services you must wait until you are on board.
  14. a) once on board you go directly to the sanctuary. b) You select your lounge and book for half days for the days you wish to use it. Current cos is $20/half day, $40/full day, $30/full day if you book the entire 10 days. c) Your 10 day cruise will be filled with b2bers that book for 20 days. Those passengers will be able to book the sanctuary the day before turn around day, the day you board. There is very little shade in the sanctuary. The overhead netting does not really provide shade. You say you are in a suite. If you are in a full suite, not a mini suite, then you will have a decent size balcony. Even some mini suites have nice size balconies. You probably can use the balcony. You may or may not get full sun. It all depends on the ship's direction.
  15. There are a number of crew members at each muster station. When boarding begins they are there. There is no lead person controlling the station. There are no instructions or demos provided. You just walk up, place your medallion on the reader, the attendant will say thank you and you are done. You can complete this step of the process from the time you board up until the ship sails. Lets not make this too complicated. It is very, very easy.
