Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you for the information. Very helpful.
  2. Hello. I am hoping for some help from all of the Celebrity cruise guru's who have also cruised on Carnival. My wife and I took our first cruise for our 10th anniversary with Carnival. We quickly became addicted and just completed our 29th Carnival cruise a couple of weeks ago. Carnival has been good for us especially when our kids travelled with us but now that they are grown, we are a little older (early 50's) and it's just the two of us we have decided we may have outgrown Carnival. We have investigated other lines and Celebrity really caught our eye. We are wondering how others who have sailed both would compare Carnival and Celebrity. We are not drinkers or gamblers and honestly don't spend much time laying around the pool. On Carnival we just relax, go to some trivia, maybe hit karaoke a little, enjoy the music around the ship (if it's our era, 70's and 80's), and of course the food. We are planning our 30th anniversary trip for October. We are looking at an Infinite Veranda room on the Celebrity Beyond. We are the kind of people who believe it is what you make it. So I am sure we will enjoy it no matter what but we have a few questions. Here are some of my questions: 1. Does Celebrity publish a daily list of activities similar to FunTimes on Carnival? If so does anyone have examples from a couple of days so that we can see what a typical day looks like. 2. With an Infinite Veranda you can get it with or without Concierge Service. Is this worth the extra cost? What types of "services" do you get with this? 3. On the Edge class ships there are 4 different main dining rooms. With Any Time Dining you get to choose which to eat at each night. Do they each have their own unique menu each night or do they all serve the same thing? 4. Are gratuities included in the price I am quoted online or are they added later like with Carnival? I have seen articles that claim they are included and others that say they are added later. 5. Is it better to book online or through a Celebrity agent? After 29 great cruises with Carnival we are excited to try something new and we are hoping we get as addicted to Celebrity as we did to Carnival 20 years ago. Any information or advice you can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  3. Doing this from memory so I may miss something They will ask for: - cell number for updates on embarkation day - emergency contact (name, phone, relation) - are you driving or flying - if you are flying they want flight info - citizenship documentation, either passport or birth cert (for passport they want the number, issue date, expiration date, and city of issuance) - on board account, cash or credit card, if card you will need their CC info I think this is it. If I missed something so one will fill in the gaps. I hope you and your parents enjoy your cruise.
  4. Actually the colors are not meaningless. The color specifies the deck and gives the guys sorting and delivering the bags an easy visual to know which deck to drop off the bags. You can print them in black and white and have a high probability of getting your bags but if you have access to a color printer you can help your odds.
  5. I feel for the team working on it. I am in IT for a large nationwide company. If we took our customer facing website down for two days and it was this bad when we brought it back up there would be a lot of people looking for a job this morning. It is better to be down longer than estimated than to bring it up and let customers see these kinds of issues. There needed to be a lot more testing in QA before the rollout.
  6. I was hoping it would be fixed this morning but no luck. Either they are still working on it or these are the new prices. This specifically say per person not the cabin.
  7. We have been waiting all weekend for the Carnival website to come back so we could look at booking a cruise. It is finally up but I can't believe the prices. I filtered to 5, 6, or 7 day cruises in Jan or Feb 2024. I looked at some before the site went down and I could find cruises for around $500-600 per person. Now they are crazy. With my VIFP number in to get the best deal the Feb 3-8 Sunshine cruise to the Bahamas is $918 per person for an interior room. That's about what I paid for a premium balcony on our Alaskan cruise this summer. Are these prices for real?
  8. It is 4 miles. https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/85004/progresos-prolonged-pier#:~:text=Located in a port city,6.5 kilometers (4 miles).
  9. Thank you. I read that before I posted and completely missed the part about the airlines.
  10. Does the social internet package allow you to check in to your flight? Specifically Southwest. I think I did this on our last cruise but I can’t remember for sure. thanks in advance for your help
  11. Thank you. I see in that thread that I have to call the milestone dept.
  12. For anyone who has reached a milestone cruise (25th, 5th, 75th, etc.), how does the reward work? We sailed on our 25th this year and I expected to get some kind of email with a certificate to redeem or instructions but we got nothing. We are planning a cruise in 2023 that we want to use the 25% OBC reward but I have no idea how to cash in. Can anyone who has used a milestone reward give me a little guidance? Thanks in advance for your help.
  13. Thanks. I'll try to find a another computer to try it on.
  14. Is anyone else having problems with online booking engine? No matter which cruise I choose when I get to the part where you pick your room the screen is just white. It never loads. I have tried multiple browsers and it happens with them all. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?
  15. https://www.cruisecontrol-transportation.com/ These guys are the best. We have used the multiple times. From MCO to Port Canaveral hotels, from hotel to cruise terminal, and from cruise terminal back to MCO. You can get a private car for just your group for a very reasonable rate.
