Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. To the local experts: Generally, how far is each town's rail stop to town center? Also difficulty walking to. Thank you from a couple of mid 70 year olds.
  2. Well, three NCL cruises in the past year and a half and we are batting zero......3 misses due to weather, tides ,or captain's decision. NCL: please put in a dock like Coco Cay. I will not fall for this a fourth time. My money is back with RCL.
  3. We will be on TA returning to FLL Park/n/Go where the car will be. We want to fly out of MIA (to Rome) two weeks earlier. Has anyone used a shuttle/UBER from the FLL Park/n/Go to MIA? Wish there were more/cheaper flight option out of FLL.
  4. I thought I just did.....I'm no lawyer, but shouldn't NCL abide by the principles of a verbal contract (or whatever they want to call their discussion with me that was documented.) and honor the full price FCC? Just sayin.
  5. I am currently experiencing a somewhat similar FCC issue with NCL. While doing my research on whether to receive a refund for the April Escape cancellation and take a 50% FCC or rebook that weekend and receive a 100% FCC, I decided to call NCL to get more info. I spoke to a NCL rep (I documented her name, the date and even time of day). She basically repeated the same info I received about the cancellation/refund/FCC options. I then asked her (actually asked her several times) what can I use my FCC for: cruise fare, taxes, port charges, other service charges, prepaids, etc. She told me and, repeated it several times upon my inquiries, that yes, all of these fares , charges, taxes, prepaids can be paid for with my 100% FCC. She said she does this "all the time". So based on her statements I decided it was worth going the 100% route. Fast forward to this week.....I called my TA to go ahead and use as much of the FCC towards my total bill for Escape in 1/23. She said no problem, will do. Well a day later she reports "problem". NCL will only include the cruise fare not the add ons. My unexpected bill for this 100% FCC cruise is now $725. So back to the TA to try to sort it out. I made sure to give my TA the documentation of my previous call with NCL. A day later she calls back and got confirmation that we are correct and the total will be paid off with the FCC. Great. Yesterday my TA calls me back to tell me NCL now will only pay cruise fare. But for my troubles they will give me a $100 non refundable OBC. *****. We are seasoned cruisers (over 45 to date...RCI, Celebrity, NCL., Carnival, Viking). I can say this is the most frustrating experience we have been involved in. I think I did the right thing and researched the FCC to make my decision based on info "from the horses mouth". Has anyone else have had similar experiences? Frustrated in Florida.
  6. We (2) are Elite and pre cruise. About 3 weeks ago we upgraded from Classic to Premium Beverage Package and this is what we were charged: $9/day/person for 8 day cruise was $144 and total grat. for 8 days was $25.92......$169.92 total. I think we got a pretty good deal.
  7. We are D+ and just got off IOS. We both used our 5 vouchers each day. I recommend looking at your account on the RCI App to make sure you were not charged. There were 2 $13 charges showing up one day and I had guest services remove them. No problem.
  8. We will be on 10/30 WOS TA. Bar question.....my wife enjoys a good gimlet if they use Rose's Lime mix rather than their home made sour mix (sorry, RCI that is not a gimlet). Does anyone currently on board know if they have and use Rose's? We just got off IOS and there was none to be had. thx
  9. NCL refundable OBC, not from TA. And since they had my CC, NCL should have credited it for the negative balance. My beef was not being notified until we were in a long disembark line early last day. Maybe NCL reads this, I hope.
  10. Bingo.....perfect storm for NCL. You would think they would pull more Escape staff to Encore to try to quick fix the anticipated problem. I felt so sorry for the staff, especially bartenders. Fortunately they tried to overstaff the bars on the missed GSC day (lots of irate passengers looking to drown their sorrows)🍺
  11. I agree...Cash is king......I just wish they would have notified me that I had to cash out before we got in the LONG disembark line.
  12. From a Diamond+ RCL cruiser, I have only cruised 3 times with NCL. This last one was an Escape replacement. I really wanted to say NCL is at or near RCL/Celebrity quality, but NCL is not quite there. There are a few areas which I did like: The many, many dining venues.....the Observation lounge.....the entertainment (loved Choir of Man).....friendly staff. The not so good: Extremely understaffed on this ship, especially bartenders........ very small pool for this sized ship,....... food quality not as high as RCL/Celebrity,.......NCL has a tendency to nickle/dime you to death (drink package does not include specialty coffee, water, sodas....free means free: don't say free drinks and then charge you 20% service).....and please NCL build a dock at GSC (of the past 2 NCL cruises we missed GSC both times).......I know it is a problem on all ships, but pool chair hogs on this cruise were over the top. We will use our FCC on the Prima and hopefully I can give NCL a better review. Sorry to all the NCL homies.
  13. This was bazaar....just finished our replacement cruise onboard Encore. As we were self disembarking the facial recognition machine flagged me after my wife went thru. I was told to get out of line and go see a gentleman at a computer and resolve an issue. So sometime late cruise we were given $80 OBC by NCL (maybe as a result of skipping a day at GSC (too windy) and I then had a negative (credit) balance to my OBC acct. OK, they have my CC so that will just show up on my card after we get back, right? Not on this ship. I was given $85 cash back by the gentleman (as well as another lucky (or unlucky) traveler behind me) and was told to get back in line to disembark.......which worked this time. But in 45 years of cruising I have never had this experience. I can imagine this issue would cause extra disruption during an already busy process. I tried to explain this to him, but he said "this is how it is done at NCL". What a truly dumb rule, IMO.
