Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yep looks like they've decided the capacity of Seaside is less than 5000 passengers, from looking at timetables Arvia shouldn't have any port clashes in Palma now
  2. There aren't any ships of a similar size there in port so no schedule clashes
  3. Unfortunately the rules are quite clear and state one ship with capacity of 5000 or over , no exceptions
  4. Arvia can't dock with Seaview in Palma, Celebrity Apex is smaller than 5000 passengers so is unaffected. P&O have to wait for the port to cancel the call
  5. I mean the itinerary changing as it will certainly have to change with the rules as they are now. Hopefully P&O confirm the itinerary change soon. MSC certainly won't be cancelled as Palma is a home port for Seaview
  6. Not sure when they’ll change it but there are no exceptions to the rules for this year
  7. One ship with 5000 passengers allowed in port each day , two other smaller cruise ships. Arvia and MSC Seaview both in port the same day and MSC are embarking passengers there , Some cruises changed for Alicante , the others will be changed for that or Valencia possibly Malaga or overnight in Barcelona
  8. Yep there was a missile strike in Poland but it was found to have been caused by the Ukrainian missile defence system that was targeting the russian missile. There is a minimal chance of an accidental missile strike but Putin for all his threats isnt going to risk an attack on NATO countries as the outcome for Russia would be massive and result in a global war
  9. At the moment the Typhoon aircraft along with other NATO aircraft are ensuring that the Baltic is safe. If there is a threat then P&O will visit alternative ports but at the moment the situation in those countries are safe and Putin is aware of what would happen to Russia if they attacked any country in the Baltic or a NATO country. Since the outbreak last year. Ships have docked safely in the Baltic ports and there are navy vessels patrolling the waters around those areas
  10. Did the Loen Skylift with the local provider at the port last September. Got the shuttle bus at 9am for when the cable car opened at 9.30. Walked straight through the shop. Scanned my ticket on the entrance gate and straight into the cable car with no queue at all
  11. There is an ice-cream shop by the supermarket that has free WiFi
  12. I think it's not just P&O but other cruise lines that are discounting prices as well. The fjords are plenty big enough for ships like Iona and MSC Virtuosa. I think P&O were quite unlucky with weather and numerous other ships cancelled their port calls in the fjords last year including small ships from Seabourn and Oceania , the locals told us it had been one of the wettest and windiest summers on record which resulted in lots of cancelled ships. The cruise pier in Hellesylt is less than half of the length of Iona but with the berthing dolphins, can easily accommodate the largest ships in the world
  13. Whilst the ship has azipods and captains will know how to work them. Winds like those of around 55mph in Alicante the other day with a narrow harbour entrance are beyond the safe limits to even think about trying to use them and if they had docked in Alicante they would have missed Barcelona due to weather, whilst it's disappointing to miss a port, I trust that the captain has made the correct decision. We have docked once on a South America cruise in winds of around 30 knots , the captain said that he would have one go at docking and if they couldn't get alongside they would cancel the port. Anything higher than this and the port will be cancelled. Last year Norway had what locals described as the worst summer ever and many ships had to cancel ports including both large ships like Iona and smaller ships like Seabourn . There have been issues previously with wind in Monaco and in Rome where ropes have become unattached or in Monaco where passengers had to sleep in a sports hall because tendering became too dangerous
  14. Winds were much higher than expected and beyond the safe docking level for any cruise ship
  15. I can't think of any others who it might be. It probably won't be Katie Price. Possibly Jill Scott but I assume it's going to be someone from the Caribbean as others have stated from what they've heard on the ship. I can't think of anyone else who it may be.
