Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Seeking advice for a planned 7-night New England/Canada cruise, Fall 2024, on Enchanted Princess. Would the departure from NY on 5th October, returning 12th October be good for seeing the spectacular Fall foliage? How about a week later? The other deciding factor is the number of ports. The 5th October departure is 5 ports, whereas the week later is only 4. The additional port is St John (for Bay of Fundy). I quite like a sea day, and the additional port makes it quite port-intensive. Is St John worth a visit? I'll happily have an extra port if the leaves will be more spectacular a week earlier.
  2. So I'm now stuck with Blue Lane because I don't live in the USA? Hmmmmm.
  3. I was sitting at the back of the bus behind you for the Stonehenge trip! Glad you had a good time.
  4. @Gardyloo Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I had the most wonderful visit to the Museum of Flight. Got a taxi no problem after stepping off the ship. Cost was $28. The taxi driver helpfully pointed out that the museum campus is both sides of the road as he dropped me off, telling me to make sure I visit both sides. I was there for over three hours. It was everything I'd hoped it would be. The "tower" with a view over the adjacent runway while listening to the Air Traffic Control chatter was an unexpected bonus. I got the bus back into downtown Seattle no problem at all. They were every 15 minutes. It went through some - ahem - "interesting" parts of town on the way back, which gave me a flavour of Seattle I wouldn't have got from a cruise ship excursion. Given the time when I was travelling back, I just stayed on the bus until near Pike Place Market and had a mosey around and a pint in a brew pub before walking to the ship. Thanks again for the wonderful information. It was so, so much better than any organised excursion would possibly have been.
  5. @Gardyloo Thanks for all the info. I'm travelling alone, so will I just need $2.75 in change? Or does it double to $5.50 because of the length of the journey?
  6. @Gardyloo Great information, thank you. How do you pay for the city bus? Looking at the maps, it seems it's a pleasant half hour walk along the waterfront to get back to Pier 66. This looks like a perfect day trip.
  7. I'm on the Ruby Princess this September, and have a full day in Seattle (9am to 9pm) on Tuesday 20th. Looking at what there is to do and see in the area, I would really like to get to the Museum of Flight. Has anyone done this? Would it just be a case of getting a taxi, and how easy is that at the port?
  8. I can just about tune out the Muzak. The UK call centre interrupts the Muzak with really, really badly acted advertisements. Thick sounding male voice "Can I get a cocktail?" Patronising female voice "It's included!" Thick sounding male voice "How about a speciality coffee - with whipped cream on top?" Patronising female voice "It's included!" Thick sound mail voice "How about binge watching Netflix?" Patronising female voice "It's included! Just log on to your Netflix account!" .... ten minutes of hold music ...... Male voice "I see you have a suite - this way for priority boarding" Female voice "How lovely. (pause) Look at the size of this suite! And the view from this balcony!" and so on.... and so on....
  9. Well, I stayed on hold for two hours and finally got through! In that time I tried (and failed) to use their online contact form, posted in a Facebook group, posted on here, tweeted Princess (and got a reply saying I would need to phone), read the advice I got in the Facebook group, and booked direct with the TA. I now have a deluxe balcony cabin booked for £500 less than I was paying for a regular balcony, and have $200 extra on board spend. @dides - by phoning in the evening and going through to a US agent, you also just get hold music, rather than the really irritating cheesy adverts while on hold to Princess UK.
  10. I am getting fed up trying to contact Princess, but don't know if I even need to. I'm booked on the Sky Princess 14 night Norwegian Fjords, departing Southampton on 17th June 2023. I booked while on Sky Princess last September and paid £75 deposit. I have found that Princess are now advertising the same category of cabin for £300 less than I paid (and including a £200 on board credit), and a TA are advertising for £600 less than I paid (plus a $300 on board credit). I know that Princess won't match the TA price, and I really just want to cancel and book with the TA. I've spent 90 minutes a day for four days trying to phone Princess. I've tried to send their online contact form and it says "We were not able to submit your passenger information because there was incorrect or missing information. Please correct them before you re-submit the form." Is there anything to stop me just booking with TA? Is there any other way to contact Princess to say I just want to cancel?
  11. I just stock up my fridge. Back from an excursion and heading to the cabin? Heading back to the cabin from buffet breakfast? Grab a sealed bottle of beer from any bar you pass.
