Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We're considering a J category interior on the 5th floor of the Nieuw Statendam. Specifically, we're down to a couple different cabins: J5079 J5093 Each one of these two cabins appears to have a stateroom above and below them, and likewise not have a crew member space adjoining them. For the NS layout, does anyone see any reason to avoid either these cabins?
  2. Thanks to all who answered my original question and the associated airport transfer question. A fare price drop allowed us to switch back to our original plans, so we’re now booked on a flight that leaves at 3 PM. Thus, we won’t be following up here with the actual results of a Noon departure. Thanks again!
  3. Anyone have such experience they’d like to share?
  4. Dicey means risky or unpredictable. In the context of the question, it would describe a twisty, undulating road, or perhaps a less-improved road surface like gravel or packed dirt, that a local may be comfortable driving on, but a cruise tourist such as myself would probably try to avoid.
  5. So it sounds like ddaz and Jan (racingrayswimmom) have successfully rented from the La Baie cruise port location of National. I see from their posts that ddaz drove out to the fjord park for a hike, with apparently no issue on the drive/return. For those who have rented from the La Baie port location of National, how was the experience of actually driving around the area? Any places that felt a bit too dicey road-wise (thinking Cabot Trail), or perhaps too far for a comfortable return? In general, while the actual renting process went smoothly, was renting a car and driving around the area something that you enjoyed and would recommend/do again?
  6. On a related note, best (speed/cost/quality) transfer from port to BWI? My short research says Uber/Lyft is the best choice over shuttle, taxi or light-rail. Obviously, given this thread’s topic, I’d want the reliably fastest transfer. Appreciate the reassurances thus far - please keep those opinions coming. Thanks.
  7. Is a noon departure from BWI following our cruise that ends at Baltimore considered too tight? The next flight leaves at 5 pm, which would make for a long wait. Opinions? Thanks.
