  1. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! Yay for our DNA, thanks for the explanation of East Meets West Day, and oh my, what would we do without our hairstylists? I think Covid showed what would happen. LOL Thank you all for your wonderful wishes for DH's birthday; yes, my Honey Bunny (yes, I really call him that) turns 83 today. After his first heart attack in 1993, subsequent stents, sextuple bypass, pacemaker implant, and now waiting for an aortic valve replacement, I am truly blessed to have had him for all these years. He said the other day with all the replacement parts he's got inside, he's likely to never die! When he gets up I'll tell him each of your names and locations so he can know what a caring online family we have. @JazzyVI hope you had another restful night. @Haljo1935I'm sorry you had to cancel your cruises - that's always a difficult decision, but our health comes first. @Cruzin TerriI hope you get some answers from the doctor this morning; I can't imagine receiving a prescription without instructions. @RMLincolnwhat great news about your DH's eye operation - even though the day will be filled with drops, etc., at least you know the initial outcome is good. @marshhawkI'm glad to hear Chuck's cancer is in remission, but disappointed to know his pain is so great. I do hope the pain clinic will give him relief. @smitty34877I'm sorry to hear Tana has had more difficulties, but so glad you've got extra bodies in the house to help relieve the strain from your shoulders. Later this morning we'll go out for breakfast to a hotel that is along the river - not the same one as we went to for our anniversary, but with equally nice views. After that there's a plant sale at one of the grocery stores where I'm sure a few Boston ferns will find their way into the back of the car. Once home, they'll have to stay on the glassed in deck, as there's no way I'll keep them outside at this time of year. The afternoon will be open for the birthday boy to rest, then we're meeting his adult kids and son-in-law at the casino a short distance from the city. I'll buy dinner and after that DH can enjoy some time trying to win our fortune at the slot machines. We've been to Santorini 3 times, and have photos just like those posted - great memories, as each of the times there weren't huge numbers of people there. I'd like to try the drink of the day, will let others enjoy the SB, and for the menu suggestion, you had me at "garlicky". Tonight though, we'll be enjoying a lovely meal at the casino - which has had some very good ratings lately - that someone else will cook and serve for me. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, and in turmoil. Cheers to all with celebrations going on today. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry
  2. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I'll let the white wine lovers enjoy the Sauvignon Blanc today, am intrigued by the folklore that surrounds St. Mark's Eve, and wish for safety and comfort for all animals in laboratories. I like the quote, except for the "enormous demands on me" part. LOL Another sunny day in the works for us; currently it's +4(39F), but the forecast is for a high later this afternoon of 21(69) - woo hoo! Yesterday I got brave (seriously brave) and packed up 3 winter jackets that I dropped off at the Salvation Army store - never fear, I still have at least 3 more of varying weights to carry me through the next winter. @JazzyVI hope you had a restful second night after your surgery, and that the extra sleep continues so you can start feeling like your old self again. @RMLincolnsaying prayers for Richard's eye check up this morning; I hope you have a great visit with your friends after. I didn't really have anything on the agenda today, but last night Ollie called to see if I could bring her downtown so she could drop off some forms at city hall for Gord's police pension. And after that we're going to stop by the funeral home to pick up his ashes. I felt honoured that she asked me to go with her to do both. I'd like the drink of the day (have made and consumed many over the years, although we always referred to it as "Adult Orange Juice"), would like the wine, but it's pricey, and do love salmon cakes. The next time I thaw some salmon fillets, I might make them into cakes, but for tonight I've got a couple of pork chops thawing that will be egg-washed and panko crumb coated before being air fried and served along with mini baked potatoes and a crunchy salad at the kitchen table. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, and in general turmoil. Cheers to all with celebrations. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry
  3. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! I'm pretty good at English, think English Muffins are good if they've got a solid layer of peanut butter and jam on them, and I've never seen an episode of Dr. Who. I do know a couple of people who fit today's quote to a T; they seem to not have any interest in forming their own opinions. A bright sunny day already here on the thawing "frozen tundra" with a temp of +2(35F) and an expected high of +17(62) which will be lovely. Yesterday's early morning rain and subsequent sunshine basically took care of all the snow that had fallen last week. Now we wait a week or so before I can start raking up the winter mess from the junipers in the front yard - I can only imagine how full the gutters are from the winter winds. I'll be calling the fellow who does our lawns to see if he'll clean out the gutters again this year, as that's how I found him online last year. Happy Birthday to our two special lovely ladies today @marshhawk and @cunnorl; I hope you both have many happy and healthy returns of the day! Wishing @JazzyV plenty of rest and a relief from her pain - I'm amazed that you are home after surgery like that! Sending prayers and good vibes to @RMLincoln's DH and his surgical team today, and hugs to Maureen as she waits. @Haljo1935good luck with your eye procedure today as well. @smitty34877I'm happy to hear you had a respite from your role as caregiver over the weekend. @kochleffelI hope you had a Happy Passover. Not much happening here; DH is going out for a hair cut this morning and while he's away I'll bring out the vacuum. Looking around, it seems it's time for spring cleaning - ugh. First will be the living room windows - both inside and out, as they're looking pretty grim. I'd like the drink of the day, would love to try the wine, but the price!!! I think I'd enjoy today's menu suggestion, but DH doesn't like broccoli, so I'd have to sub in something like cauliflower instead. I've got some ground beef thawing that will be turned into meatloaf and served along with mashed potatoes and green beans at the kitchen table tonight. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in grief, in wars and in general turmoil. Cheers to all who have celebrations happening today. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry
  4. Good afternoon, time for a quick check-in. We went shopping this morning and after about 30 minutes DH said he was going back to the car - a signal to me he's losing ground. I sincerely hope his case for the valve replacement is approved this week and that the surgery can be done before the end of May as was suggested. @Cruzin TerriI'm sorry you had to cancel your trip; having had to do the same thing only a few days before departure, I can sympathize with how you must feel. You know, though, that you did make the right decision for both of you. @shadow 123Welcome to the Daily; we hope you enjoy your visits - you're among friends. @Niagarawineyou made me laugh. What most people don't know is that many of us have decoder rings in our arsenal and are able to figure out pretty much any of the typos we produce. @kochleffelwishing you a Blessed Passover. Looks like a bit of a storm blowing through Port Everglades right now - I missed capturing it a few minutes ago when you couldn't see even the outlines of any of the ships.
  5. Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily! DH could have been a chemist, as that was one of his degrees, but he chose education instead. We do celebrate Earth Day; a couple of years ago I made some great cloth bags out of table runners I found at the dollar store and they're still holding up well after many washings. Yay for all Girl Scout leaders. Wow, it's still early and we're already on page 3; I guess that comes from the individual posting of good wishes. When I got up the sky looked grey and strange - that's because it rained overnight. It's partially cleared up now, but according to the forecast we could have more showers until mid-afternoon. Fine by me, as it helps take down the snow that we received last week and provides extra moisture for the trees and grass. @JazzyVprayers for you and your medical team as you have your surgery today. @summer slopeBon Voyage; have a wonderful cruise! @Rowsbywishing you a very Happy Birthday with many healthy and happy returns of the day. @grapau27sending comforting thoughts as you commemorate your late Mam's birthday. @1ANGELCAThugs across the miles; the anniversary of the passing of our parents is always a sad day to mark. I hope it helps knowing others care. Not a lot on our plates today, just some laundry and a bit of shopping to do this morning. This afternoon I'll head back to the sewing machine and finish off the coasters - yesterday I put together another couple of sets and sewed all but 2 of the 13 sets before it was time to quit. Today I have to finish sewing the last 2, then iron each of them, and do the topstitching before putting them away. I've never had a Fujiyama, but it sounds interesting. Pretty sure I'd like the wine, and we often have coleslaw as a side dish. I like coleslaw, but prefer a creamy dressing, and don't like it when people put horseradish into it. Yuck. Tonight's dinner will be easy - I've got a container of turkey soup thawing that we'll enjoy with cheese croissants at the kitchen table. And wine. Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, and in turmoil. Cheers to all who have celebrations happening today. Smooth Sailing! ☺️☺️☺️ Gerry
  6. That's all I can do for today; the next BHB sailaway isn't for quite a while, I believe. Smooth Sailing to all on ships today. Till next time!
  7. Jacqui and Debbie are immediately to the left of Rich.
  8. I know the Volendam is more nimble than the big ones, but she sure doesn't have the PP onboard today!
  9. She'll be comin' round the building when she comes . . .
