Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We walked over. Did not expect they would be open. Condition was so-so... it was the first day they were open to 'public'. I did all the slides that were open (3 were not), and there were some friction issues here and there... don't know if they need waxing, more water flow, or just more use. The zip lines (one son and I did the circuit) were good, no issues. They were a bit under-staffed - so some slides on the same level had one employee having to man the slide entrances that were on opposite ends from each other, the lazy river (that was the most sketchy to me, as far as 'clean') had 2 employees only... and they made everyone wear life jackets - I'd guess that is because there were not any additional employees to monitor the river at various points. The most staffing went to the zip lines, as there were 2 employees at each station. The elevator was not in operation. The walkways from slide exit back to the temple area were kind of hard on bare feet. We only checked out the pool/snack area on the way out to grab a water, but that looked pretty clean... and that's where we saw the most people on our visit; we encountered maybe a dozen others here or there while we did the slides. Granted, since there was hardly anyone else there and we got there early, we got through all we wanted in just a couple hours. They also used to have cameras for rides that used rfid bracelet technology. That's not in operation - the few sensors that we saw, on the lazy river part, didn't look in good shape. All-in-all, it is kind of expensive for the state it was in... but then, the zip lines do add value. But I don't see it being able to attract enough people to pay for all the rehab and staffing it would need, and if it did attract bigger crowds, it would be less enjoyable. Sorry for the ramble, hope I touched on the main points.
  2. I had posted a picture of my receipt on the FB forum as proof that we actually went... since there doesn't seem to be any others reporting visiting, so really don't know what's going on there. Anyway, it was $120 adult and $115 kids (don't recall age limit, but our 15 yr old still qualified for kid rate). The receipt also showed their price in pesos as 2040 / 1955. This was July 25, 2023.
  3. FWIW, on recent Mardi Gras sailing, we got our kids a couple days of wifi, and they were able to hotspot so that we could check on some things via their hotspot.
  4. We are in Costa Maya today on Mardi Gras. The waterpark is open today for the first time. Zip lines are running, and most of the slides... I think 3 were not open. Not very busy at all, which I expected.
  5. I also have been watching and waiting... loved our visit there in back in 2018. I just went to their FB page, and amazingly there are recent posts from them (it's been pretty much silent since 2020). There is not an exact date, but sounds like they may be re-opening next month...
  6. We sailed the Escape March 11-18. Ropes course was open every day. (Although I will say they at times did not have the top level, walk-the-plank, and zip-line circuits open while at sea when it was pretty breezy.) We very much enjoyed it - went several days.
  7. Our family does purchase photos for our cruises, and we purchased the package on our 2019 Seaside and 2022 Seashore cruises. Highly recommend if you do like to get pictures taken over the multiple nights. MSC package is a good deal IMO (compared to other lines we've also done: NCL/Carnival) as it is for ALL of the digital pics... whereas I have not seen an 'all image' package elsewhere. We've had well over 100 pictures on each of our MSC cruises (family of 4, so mix of couple, family, kids). We did not ever see photographers in YC. Also cannot help with the booking photographer question, but I would doubt the photo package would cover that.
  8. I can give you some info on it - although our Seashore cruise was last March, doubt it has changed much. What I don't recall are the specifics as to the different cost tiers to total fun pass $ received. I think the pre-cruise purchase is the best value as far as % of extra. But you also can purchase 3 different $ amounts onboard as well... with the best extra $ percentage for the higher price. Think the top was $100 that got you $150 total? Anyway, it just goes on your cruise card and can be used for the arcade games, as well as the virtual rides. And yes, you can pay for others' from the one cruise card, which would be the way to go for couples/families to try the virtuals / 4D. Now, a warning if you have kids that you're getting a pass for. Kids can very quickly swipe away their pass money on the games... and if they are not going to the attendant desk to regularly check their balance and run out of fun pass money... well then every swipe is a regular charge. IMO - and from experience with not-terribly-responsible-tweens - it is an absolute MUST to set a reasonable/low spending limit on kids' cruise cards to prevent this. It is very easy to use a self-serve kiosk to raise the limit if needed.
