Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. What’s the easiest way to change your set dining time after you’ve booked? We are set at 5:30 and want to change to 8pm. It was a direct booking with RCCL, not a TA booking. Thanks for any assist.
  2. Tell me you have no clue how it actually worked without telling me.
  3. Yes because forecasting weather and the close integration between an on staff meteorologist and the ships captains’ to ensure best possible outcomes for guest safety was a waste of money. Use that thing between your ears for once.
  4. Apparently some of you do not listen in to Royal Caribbean Group earnings calls. CEO Jason Liberty, in the Q3 earnings call, stated in part, “demand for our experiences was very strong, and we achieved 96% load factors overall with the Caribbean at close to 105% at record pricing and high satisfaction scores”. Further stated, “The value proposition of cruise remains incredibly attractive, I would say too attractive…..we received twice as many bookings for 2023 sailings in Q3, as we did in Q2, resulting in considerably higher booking volumes than during the same period for 2019 sailings…..as a result, all four quarters of 2023 are booked well within historical ranges at record prices, with bookings accelerating every week." So, fully expect prices to climb regardless of inflation ir anything else well into 2023 and 2024 at least. At some point prices will cause demand softening and if continued, demand destruction. We are definitely not at these points.
  5. My surprise meter would litterally not budge if I saw that Royal was now charging a Coca Cay Sun fee. Yes, enjoy the special feeling of the sunshine while on Coca Cay, only $29.95/per person (no refunds if cloudy).
  6. 1. Probably around 0645hr. 2. Yes and yes. 3. 10 to 15 min max 4/5. Don't know.
  7. Mailing a letter would be quicker than what Allure currently has for internet speed.
  8. Knowing RCCL, we will have "Voom by Starlink" for the low price of $59.99 per day for 1 device.
  9. Based on the utter uselessness of the WiFi whereupon 2 soup cans and string would likely serve you better, I would say that is correct.
  10. Figures Canada would be the lone holdout and figures my next cruise has to stop there for just a couple hours to comply with the Jones Act. I have thoughts about Canada that would lead me to be banned from this forum so I'll refrain.
  11. Who cares. My next cruise is to Alaska so we have the obligatory waste of time in having to stop in Canada for 5 hours (5p to 10p; like what in God's earth are you going to do with that time frame when you are packed for disembark 12 hours later) so we will have to test regardless. I would not be surprised if the Canadian government has this in place still come summer 2023.
  12. So Seattle and all Florida ports have zero changes. A nothing burger cooked over a dumpster fire. Well done Royal, truly awe inspiring.
  13. With Starlink agreement, I won't be surprised if in 5 years one still has to pay for internet. Look at the airlines, they started out with everyone having to pay by the hour. Now Delta will be rolling out free w-fi to everyone on the aircraft. At first domestic and then it will be international. Don't think UAL, AAL and the others won't follow suit due to FOMO and the passenger experience. As soon as Starlink is deployed fleet-wide and the bandwidth is such that 5,000+ people being on it won't bog it down, I fully expect it to be free. Especially if they can do so and CCL and NCL cannot. The caveat being they will likely adjust the cruise fare slightly to make up for the lost revenue. So, we will think we are getting a great perk when in fact, the cost is front loaded on the cruise fare.
  14. Unless you're on an Alaska cruise because the Canadien government is doing their typical nonsense. All for just 2.98% of the cruise time of being docked in Victoria. 🤬
