Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. A new Captain came on board when I boarded on June 23rd. Anyone sailing on the Crown since then is in for a treat! Captain Christopher Lye is the most personable captain I have ever sailed with. He was out and about ship, very visible and very approachable. His noon announcements were full of information and never boring. I'd love to sail with him again and wish more captains would emulate his style.
  2. true. and they are only available with the shared $75 bucket. I think you'd be better off eating ashore.
  3. I loathe "self -assist" it should be called "self -carry". I know it's not Princess' fault, but it was a real bummer to get that letter the night before disembarkation. One of the many reasons I love cruising is that I don't have to deal with schlepping around my luggage. Other than that hiccup I did have a great cruise. (I disembarked on July 4th.)
  4. I think you meant Libby Riddles. and yes she's worth arranging your schedule around. fascinating woman! 😊
  5. So they are doing this as a lunch, not an evening meal?
  6. Yep, I tip double then. For room service delivery.
  7. Call the DINE line as soon as you board and ask to be put on the list if they are having the Chef's Table dinner. If there are more people than spots, I think it helps not to have any food you won't eat or other dietary restrictions. Sorry, I don't recall the cost but a quick search here will probably give you the answer.
  8. If you don't have the time or inclination to buy another pair of shoes (I do love my Sketchers) wear the UGGS, comfort first. And, not that you would probably care, UGGS are worn year round in southern California - they are even considered fashionable. While I don't wear mine in a heat wave, they are nice in the evenings when it is cools down.
  9. Thermal Suite 11 Day Cruise Pass Relaxation Areas An immersive thermal experience. Go solo or relax with friends and family. Unwind in an oasis of heated chambers, featuring warm and cool temperatures to cleanse and recharge the body. Elements of mist, rain, steam and warmth are designed to promote deep relaxation and renewal of vital energies. Pass valid for the entire duration of cruise. $216. doing the math, a 7 day cruise would be around $138. and yes, no whirlpool area
  10. The Lotus Spa pool is open to any adult passenger. There is a Thermal Suite that offers those lovely heated ceramic beds, sauna, steam room and rainforest showers. Access to that requires the purchase of a full voyage pass (find it in your personalizer under Lotus Spa). There is also the Sanctuary, an on deck private spa like enclave. No pool. if purchasing the pass for the entire trip, one gets to pick out which padded lounger - in the sun or shade and that is yours for the trip. They also sell individual full and half day passes. There's special spa foods available to order, no additional charge above what you've paid to get in the Sanctuary. Sanctuary passes can not be purchases in advance, must be purchased on board. I suggest you search this board for the Sanctuary posts for a lot more information.
  11. Does anyone know how the Princess transfers from the Westin Bayside work? I'm hoping to just hand over my bags at the hotel and not have to see them again until they arrive in my cabin. Then if the weather's nice just walk over to Canada Place. Thanks
  12. I was curious about that too, since trade with Russia is off the table. Apparently the answer is Norway, where it turned out to be an invasive species. Here's an interesting article. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/dec/20/crab-22-how-norways-fisheries-got-rich-but-on-an-invasive-species#:~:text=In parts of northern Norway, over Norway's native fish species.
  13. Thank you! Not a fan of snow crab but I find Dungeness crabs quite tasty!
  14. @baybeach11, thanks! @Coral said that you dropped off invitations as soon as you boarded. Did you do actual invitations, or did you just need to talk to Rahana? Tagging @sprowlie, as she's on our sailing and has been working on the M&G for us.
  15. I can't answer for that first day out of Vancouver, but for the Glacier Bay and College Fjord days look at your Princess itinerary in the app or online. Those days will say "scenic cruising" with a time. For example, I'm going to the Hubbard Glacier, my scenic cruising is shown to be between 9am-2pm. I personally will avoid spa time during that period. Hope that makes sense.
