Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Well we have just returned from Fjords on QV, and yes we were shocked with no Captains Party and No Senior Officers Party - we love both of them - meeting the department heads, witty address by Captain, learning how many of each nationality on board and meeting all the officers - loved it - and made you feel really special. I think it is a sad day for Cunard that they have taken away what makes them different from the rest.
  2. Thank you Pear, question answered by yourself and I am very glad to hear your findings, enjoy your cruise
  3. Well thank you for that Splice, answered our smart attire night, how was the Gala Night on your cruise were the gents wearing their dinner jackets etc. Do you know to be quite honest I would prefer to be told what where and when as Cunard did in the old days ie Formal, Semi-Formal and Casual and on your head be it if you didn’t adhere.
  4. Yes that is what I thought ie if you didnt want to wear formal ie DJ you would need to use Lido faciiities etc. But the below is copied from my voyage personaliser packing tips - that is why i am confused: Formal suits Formal suits are only required on board a Transatlantic cruise on Gala Evenings and, even then, there’s no pressure to dress-up if you don’t want to. Most of our guests, however, relish the opportunity to put on a Tuxedo for one night and channel their James Bond alter-ego.
  5. Bit confused, Cruised with Cunard many times, but going on 16 July Fiords cruise and note that there is no formal wear required for gentlemen anymore on gala nights, anyone have update on this - dont want to arrive with wrong clothes
  6. Probably seems a stupid question to many out there. We have only ever cruised Cunard so never experienced Open Dining in Brittania except once or twice in PG. so is this like lunchtime when you take your chance on whatever table you get and whom you might be joining. Or do you still have your own table for the duration with your own waiters but dine at any time.
  7. Thank you Hattie, so just humour one ‘stupid woman’, gentlemen do not need to wear a jacket for the evening meal in Britannia. Dress Shirt to me is a shirt you would wear with your dress (evening) suit, confused !!!!!!
  8. Well we are part of World Cruise 2023 QM but still no dress code to date. But, your help would be most appreciated I seem to have missed some dress code changes, last time we were aboard QV 2020 gentlemen on smart attire evenings still had to wear jacket (but tie optional) am I right in thinking that jacket not required on these evenings now - also where did red/gold evenings come from - never heard that one. Thanks
  9. Hi there Vic, yes understand the cruise is very full, but then i suppose it is the first one since 2020 when we were cut short on QV South American World Voyage - using our credit to try again !!! - which I imagine a lot of cruises at that time are doing. Hopefully (fingers crossed) we have a good cruise. Are you staying in Sydney pre cruise (we are going out 8/3) but not sure onHotels - we want to stay Rocks area - any ideas or recommendations.
  10. Thanks for that Bluemarble, yes I have now discovered the dress code on the calendar, but it just gives Smart Attire every day with no Gala Nights so can only presume too early for these to have been set.
  11. Hi Belle - yes I have had nightmares with Cunard over flights through a travel agent - but hopefully all sorted now, so many people seem to get involved it makes it more confusing. But probably shouldn’t change the subject from flights but the new Cunard Voyage Personaliser is useless and nothing like the old one - I cant find a proper itinerary, cant find the dress codes for each evening - so difficult to navigate. And no my flights havent even appeared on it yet.
  12. Oh D & N thank you so much, yes I can quite see what you mean, my only hope is that we are either side of the small boat (which Is I imagine what you are calling the Zodiac) or even with that in front it is much lower than the large tenders. We are a family of 3 and sadly queen Mary does not cater too kindly to us, it is either obstructed or sheltered which I find very claustrophobic- ok on the Atlantic crossing but we are doing part 2 of world cruise Sydney to Southampton and thought we might need some light and air.
  13. Can’t believe you are the first sailors on QV since we left it on 28 March 2020, hope all staff are OK, is Michael still one of the dining room managers - hope everyone has a wonderful time.
  14. Thank you so much, but sadly the odd side is not a mirror image of the even side, so that is why I am asking has anybody been in 8051 for the view, but thanks once again for your interest
  15. Anybody got any information on obstructed view 8051, sadly the only photo views available are for the even numbered cabins - any photos would be brilliant Thanks
