  1. "blue_water: Per Celebrity, shorts are not an option for men as evening wear. Is that the actual situation? Slacks or jeans are actually required for dinner in the main dining rooms? Or do many guys wear shorts (Bermuda or dress shorts)? And for Evening Chic - is wearing shorts ok?" I do apologize to b_w, apparently, some of us have reading comprehension challenges, based on the latest response. Their latest post clarifies, better? The reason for the question? Then again, 'dress up a bit' can point towards many different options, pending on ones vision of what dressing up a bit (this statement is not a hyper-critical judgement of words, thoughts, or its' application only a judgement of timing of clarification and still not clear as to what is meant by 'dress up a bit'. At this juncture, that is fine. "blue_water: We dress up a bit for the evening wherever we are, whether there is a dress code, or no dress code - that’s just our style. Perhaps I should repeat that for those of you who apparently have a difficult time comprehending what you are reading - We dress up a bit for the evening wherever we are, whether there is a dress code, or no dress code - that’s just our style. Sooo many here ASSUME I am just trying to go around the long slacks requirements because I asked a question…🤷🏼 The thread needs to be deleted at this point, and if someone other than @mnocket had a “real” reply, thank you, I’m sure we will have more questions as we move forward for you Celebrity lovers ! 😉 Happy cruising ALL! 🛳️" Thank you for the clarification or update or ??? bon appetit and bon voyage
  2. First night, that is acceptable and the staff understands... Thank you for relating this scenario. bon appetit and bon voyage
  3. Taking the responses personally can be a challenge and I understand... I use to until I realized it is education on the questions I was asking and had not researched before asking. I can assure you that passengers aboard can be very different than those here... most on-board have never heard of CC. Yet onboard, most of us are very gentle and very helpful, especially for first timers. bon appetit and bon voyage (wherever you may choose to sail)...
  4. I understand your point and I liken these questions to when as a child, I wanted something and one parent said no, then I went to the other parent who would consider it and if that took too long I called a grandmother who would say 'of course'... miffing both my parents because their rules and desires were being skirted. Most ships have dining facilities for those of us who may not or choose not/want to follow the recommended/requested dress protocols. IMO, those of us who do not want to follow the requests, because we think we do not have to, have other options on dining and failing liking those options, there are other cruise lines to do it the way we want. It is quite possible that some of us have not witnessed up close the behaviour of some passengers who want to wear what they want to wear during dinner, despite knowing dress requirements and knowing that there are other options vs the MDR. These types of questions on this forum translates to me "what can I get away with while ignoring the request". That is not fair game regardless of the fact that there are a few who manage to do so. Thank you for your input regardless... bon voyage
  5. mn Thank you... I Am interested in a Caribbean sailing for our first outing with AOV... bon voyage
  6. Actually, the "real" dress code is listed online and in X's brochures. While it is true that there are a few individuals, who choose to challenge the code at every turn because 'It cannot possibly apply to me!' does not change what is expected as per the published requirements. This is an ongoing question or challenge not only here in this forum, yet on board too. There are times I have witnessed individuals who do their best to wear down the Hostess/Host to the permit the digress. Some win, some lose. Some of us may not care what anyone else wears to dinner and others of us do care. Personally, I care in terms of what the protocol and X requests. Oh for the days of yore when Dinner Jackets and Gowns were de rigueur, then when a few of the 'better' lines started relaxing those standards many of us were jumping for joy and a few of us continued to wear the more formal dress... so there is room for both. Soon, maybe soon there will be room or accommodation for less than Country Club Casual dress at dinner and on Chic nights... yet, believe it or not, there are other cruise lines who will permit less than CCC in their dining rooms at dinner, maybe that would be a better fit for those of us who wish to do so??? Just a thought. Alas, we need not to withhold a response to this often asked question from ANY poster who has not been able to find similar questions/responses in this forum... even posters asking if their children can dress the way they choose, to ignore the protocol... go figure. bon appetit and bon voyage
  7. Hello all - I Am not looking for any specifics in terms of names and etc... I Am wanting to find out how most fellow passengers here prefer booking their sailings for AOV. I did sign up for information from AOV's website and requested contact through email and you know what happened next, lots of calls from a TA (which I did not answer/take). And of course, the emails the TA sent made it urgent to book right away for various reasons that at this juncture does not matter to me as I have yet to decide which sailing I want and a few questions for them before placing the deposit. Ultimately, booking direct or using their 'assigned' TA, will using my own vetted TA possibly yield better overall results in terms of communications, good fare structure different from the brochure and possible "discounted" rates, etc.??? With just about most everything 'included' in the fare, just wanting assistance to figure out the best way to book, overall. TIA for your thoughts and input on this bon voyage
  8. hc in which case more valuable than the upgrade, in the short run!!! LOL bon voyage
  9. One additional question on this topic, please. If I understand the consensus correctly, the Horizon Deluxe Stateroom is preferable to Horizon Stateroom even for either a Caribbean or Western Med sailings? TIA and bon voyage
  10. Thank you for this, sometimes "we" forget about T&C's and focus only on our wants and desires... While not always pleasant endings, yet.... those are the T&C's, which often times go unread. bon voyage
  11. In which case, I Am sure she would have offered the OP some type of compensation for the inconvenience... bon voyage
  12. I assure you, it was not me.... LOL Was it you??? bon voyage
  13. Thank you for the follow up, to clarify my comment about balance is in the way of who wants what and when... It is understood, at least by me, that the final decision on what happens in docking is a Government decision. bon voyage
  14. Businesses, yet I have heard (not verified only through news reports) that there are residents who do not want tourists to return soon. I understand that businesses want tourists to return, that is their lively hood going down the drain, for sure.. along with some of their employees. Where is the balance??? bon voyage
  15. Unless, that is unless you have a very good TA who can work miracles on actionable items... Thank you spot on input, bon voyage
