Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I felt the same as the OP when my husband told us we were going on (our first) Alaskan cruise way back in 2011. Yes, it's expensive. Yes, it's one million percent worth it. So much so that we went again in 2018, and frankly I'd go again in a heartbeat. The excursions and experiences there are unlike anywhere else - my advice to people is save up and spend ALL that you can afford on the excursions. Caribbean you can do on the cheap and it's great, but Alaska I would not scrimp on. You won't regret it.
  2. Nope, we don't use a TA. Frankly I assumed that it was included for all full suites on all ships, so I didn't question it. If we hadn't gotten it I would have asked someone about it.
  3. We were on Enchantment in October in a GS and got internet included as part of the suite.
  4. You actually don't get the onboard credit unless you are booking a cruise with an MGM offer. You used to be able to get the credit on any Royal cruise, but now it's only when it's a cruise booked with an MGM offer. But definitely call the number and ask what offers or perks you may have.
  5. I had the same question - so I pre-booked for our upcoming cruise since it was cheaper but I still don't know what the casino discount is for Prime.
  6. We have participated in numerous ones, and the organizer always keeps their card in, understanding that they get the points but also get the tax ramifications in the event of a handpay. And frankly, unless you are doing the high roller version, no one is really getting that many points anyway. As long as a the rules are laid out beforehand, people can join or not....their choice.
  7. I also use Allianz, and typically get the "Cancel for any reason" coverage just to be on the safe side. Also, my husband is law enforcement and occasionally subpoenas to testify will pop up at inopportune times (which is a covered reason, byt the way). Also, remember a ton of other stuff is covered, including missing ports and lost luggage. Our most recent cruise in December had a port cancelled well before we sailed, and insurance still paid out $1250 for missing the port. So - always check your coverage!
  8. Even if it was a comped cruise, you should still get the points. We get comped cruises from the casino from time to time and have always gotten the points.
  9. Are you on the Feb 3 cruise by any chance? If so, we are as well. I also bid on an upgrade because...you never know. 🙂
  10. No idea. But you definitely won't get it if you DON'T ask lol. I always ask - worst they can do is say no.
  11. We have always had to wait before rooms are ready on any cruise line we have been on. They need time to turn the rooms over from the departing guests.
  12. We had one booked in Bermuda for our upcoming cruise and it was cancelled a month out, which surprised me. But if it's an insurance thing then I guess maybe it makes sense. This is on Enchantment.
