Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. For Charleston: The ship will port at the Union Pier and Cruise Terminal, which is right downtown, within a very short walk to the historic district. The Market is at the head of Market Street and E. Bay Street. You will find local vendors selling art, crafts, sweet grass baskets, etc. it has historic value, as the land was deeded to the city for use as a city market in perpetuity. Horse Carriage Tours can be found outside the Market along N. Marke Street.. A great way to see the historic district. A bit of trivia: the cobblestone streets downtown were paved with the ballast stones that were offloaded from ships porting in Charleston. The US Customs House is an architectural masterpiece. There is the Charleston Aquarium, which is good. You can also take tours to Fort Sumter from the Aquarium. Not in walking distance at the other end of Bay Street, the name changes to The Battery where the stately mansions of Charleston face the harbor and the sea wall. Past the Battery is White Point Gardens. This is where the Pirate Steed Bonnet and his pirate crew were hung, as well as over 200 others over time. This is where the first shots of the Civil War were fired from There is plenty more to do and see in Charleston as it is filled with restaurants, historic houses, etc.
  2. The cruise terminal is in historic downtown Charleston. Your best bet would be to look at N Charleston or in Mt Pleasant
  3. Retired almost 2 years ago. Used to live in the Upstate b/w Greenville and Spartanburg. After retiring we moved to Surfside Beach
  4. We live about 15 miles south of Myrtle Beach, between Garden City Beach and Surfside Beach. late fall, winter and early spring are great times to visit as we are not covered up by tourists. Are you driving or flying?
  5. I think they offer drink specials on embarkation day and port days. Also keep an eye out for Drink Of The Day. Wow that is pretty cool that you are that close. We are flying in on Wed. afternoon to Newark, spending the night there and taking Carnival Transportation to the ship the next morning. When we leave the beach in SC, where we live, on Wed it will be 79 and then the low in NYC Is hursday morning will be like 42.
  6. Your English is fine. I want to thank you for taking the time to reply to me. Thanks again
  7. Thank you for the info. It’s not that I thought it was unsafe just have never been there and wanted to check
  8. Are taxis in St. Marten reasonably priced and SAFE or is it better to stick with ship excursions? We would like to see both sides of the island. Is renting a car an option? We will be there in 2 weeks Thanks for any advice
