  1. Great idea. Question: where do I find an inexpensive watch? Here in NE NJ you can’t find too many inexpensive things! 🤯😳😣
  2. Very good information! Thank you!
  3. Thanks everyone. I have Verizon. I don’t think I’ll switch off. Nothing important I have to check on and knowing me I’d get a bill for thousands of $ and as mentioned I’m technically challenged and might even blast myself into outer space! Hope all your great info helped someone else!
  4. Ok I’ve always admitted I’m technically and mechanically challenged. I do know to put my phone on airplane mode on the ship so I don’t get “roaming charges.” Is this just on the ship? Can I turn it Off, text people etc while at the ports? Then turn back on again as soon as I re-board? TIA
  5. I remember cruising once from San Juan. I remember it was on the Fascination so just checked in my signature and it was 2001.
  6. Ah yes. I’m sure this has been asked and answered a few 1000 x but search is confused today and pulling up lots of unrelated topics. So….what’s the “best time.” Some background: I’m a CCL Caribbean cruiser. Past 15 years or so from my homeport in Manhattan. I love the actual CRUISING. Ports of call secondary. I am now a solo cruiser. I have an itch to do AK. It’s WAY out of my comfort zone but while I’m still “able” I’d like to. Don’t want to look back and wish I had. Not interested in excursions except the railway in Skagway. I don’t like cold, I don’t like being wet! I really want to do this just to cruise along and see what Mother Nature has to show me. . Wildlife? Nice but Not a requirement. This would be 2025. When should I go? Any other advice? TIA
  7. Same! Pride out out of Baltimore years ago. In between lifeboats and you could open door for fresh air. Looking that lifeboat right in the face in Elaine’s post is kind of scary to me lol.
  8. I’m from NE NJ so have a NY attitude too but I’m too shy to express it lol. I just fume inside and grit my teeth and I have eye rolls down to perfection. But if anyone bumped into me and spilled my $15 drink I would probably be pushed over the edge. And when the quiet ones are pushed over the edge-WATCH OUT! 🤬
  9. 4 of my cruising pet peeves:1) rude people. I just can’t tolerate, excuse or get my head around people who are rude and/or nasty. 2) people who DROP. Drop dishes, cups, wherever they want. I once saw a banana peel in front of an elevator. PLEASE…and speaking of elevators. 3) people who RUSH on to elevators before others have gotten off/out. 4) runners. Mostly kids/tweens running and bumping into people. How many times I’ve stepped over to the side while carrying a plate of food and/or a drink so as not to be bumped into by runners. I’ve had these issues twice on Venezia. I have another cruise on her over spring break/Easter. I’m thinking of packing a football helmet and full length bib to protect myself! Venezia is a beauty, the crew are amazing and yes, MarQ and his Motown were awesome! 👍👏🕺
  10. LOVE Cruisers. I make them at home. Drinking one right now! 🤗
  11. I’ve never had one. I’ll be in St Tom in 3 weeks. I am solo. If I drink one will I be able to get back to the ship by myself?!?!?!
  12. I’m not a day drinker either, tho some days it’s been very tempting! 🤯 I love the Bahama mamas and pirate punch. Caribbean colada when I can find a bar that makes them. That’s for my happy hour! Switch to wine spritzers then usually White Russian before bed. Funships: in all my CCL cruises I’d never had one. Did at a past guest party and they threw me on the floor! I’m a daily drinker and love fruity sweet drinks but this just zonked me! Might be just “one of those things” but not gonna take a chance ever again! CHEERS!
  13. Hey Kim- love ALL your reviews (shakira grew up!) surprised you’re looking at AK. Even more surprised that I am too lol. A tiny bit of background: I cruise almost exclusively with CCL. I live within shouting distance of port of Manhattan so that’s where cruises have been from about the past 15 years. I am now a solo cruiser and the thought of doing a cruise to AK honestly scares me. But-I don’t want to look back and wish I had someday. I’m with jamman and LOVE spirit class so looking at my old friend Spirit for 2025. Now to my question: I really don’t want to do any lengthy excursions. I’d really like to just SAIL Alaska-just see the mountains and glaciers etc. maybe just stay on or near the ship. I wonder if this itinerary is for me or I should jump ship and go with another line. I’ve heard glacier bay is must see? This just lists Tracy arm. Anyone have any advice? Sorry for the highjack Kim! (Thinking I should have started another thread but I’m too tired to do this over lol-apologies!)
  14. This is really strange because just yesterday I decided to research AK cruises for ‘25 which I never thought I’d do. I cruise solo now and live near port of Manhattan so the thought of doung this cruise scares me. But I don’t want to look back and wish I had! I’ve sailed the spirit a few times and love her as well as her sister ships. Haven’t heard too much about Luminosa and I’m curious. As far as cabins I’m happy in an ocean view now! Will be following this.
